Because ATL held it down today, here's the guy on G.O.O.D. Music who doesn't get enough recognition:

I get frustrated with some of the monotone rappers, but listen to what he says. It's layers on layers of badassery:

This is actually two videos. The first one is really good, but at 3:20 he switches to a song called Dead Prez that lets you know how a rapper destroys everything you thought conventional poetry could do with a theme:

Going to see this guy live tonight! Still trying to wrap my head around his lyrical style. Go listen to Skelethon, his latest material. Prepare to be wowed.

Aesop Rock is one of those guys who just puts words that rhyme together without even attempting to make sense. I think he's admitted as much in an interview. Only so far I can get into that.

Relistened to The Cool this morning, and goddamn, forgot how good that whole second half of the album is.

This is the coldest shit. So fucking malicious.

New Earl track dropped tonight. I never cease to be amazed by the kid's flow. So smooth, so steady.

Fine then, I respectfully disagree with you. I used to think he threw nonsense words together as well but there seems to be a lot of metaphor and stories within his lyrics. I just never paid attention.

If you can get over him being young(16) and still having a lot of time to improve, I was very impressed with Astro's mixtape Deadbeat and lazy lyrics. Kind of sounds like a young mos def.

Tyler, The Creator is probably the weirdest motherfucker on the rap scene, and I think a lot of his music is purposefully off-putting. But when he hits, he's fucking incredible.

I've listened to about half of Tyler's Wolf, still need to hear the rest of it to make any say of it. Some of it is really good, and some of it just doesn't do much for me. The track he does with Pharell is a lot of awesome.

I know Yeezus just dropped and all, but Jay's new album is right around the corner and...

There are some ridiculously hot beats in this teaser. Cannot wait for this release.

Just finished listening to Yeezus, I have no idea how to rate this yet...still wrapping my head around Kanye's aim on this one. I don't think it even comes close to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy but I can see he's still trying to test constant new musical influences. There's a big electronic feel here. I'm kind of wishing he would of had a few more guest appearances on some of the tracks, something feels missing. Where is Jay-Z or Pusha T?

Here's one that I'm into, with Bon Iver (Justin Vernon) adding vocals.

I'm really digging Yeezus. Even where some of his verses misfire (or just come off as being juvenile), there's no way to argue that he isn't a fucking genius. Some of the synth work in the production actually reminded me of El-P's last few albums (but more club dub; less Bed Stuy drive-by).

Speaking of which -- El-P and Killer Mike just made an album together and it's free. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.foolsgoldrecs.com/runthejewels/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.foolsgoldrecs.com/runthejewels/</a>

Not really hiphop, but I'm definitely becoming a JT fan:

    (Robin Thicke-esque NSFW)

So far three excellent rap albums in the last couple of weeks, but Jay-Z's falls at the end of my list. In order:

    1) Run the Jewels
    2) Yeezus
    3) Magna Carta

Looking forward to everyone's thoughts on Magna Carta. I love it, especially this song.

I've listened through MCHG a few times so far, and I love it. BBC, Tom Ford, and Holy Grail are my favorites so far. There are still a few I skip past (Picasso and Oceans), but I'm a big fan. Couldn't say the same about Yeezus, I thought it sounded like a messy failed attempt at the whole electro/rap shit now, although I'm sure I'm in the minority.

Just finished the first track from Run The Jewels, and it's badass, can't wait to get through it all.

    Then there's this.

Meek Mill didn't take too kindly to being included on Kendrick's hit list on Control...

    <a class="postlink" href="http://hypem.com/track/1z2jj/MEEK+MILL+-+OOH+KILL+EM%27+%28DIRTY%29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://hypem.com/track/1z2jj/MEEK+MILL+ ... 28DIRTY%29</a>

Damn I love when he just goes in. The beat selection was precise too with Kendrick being on Aftermath...
