Anyone else start watching it? It’s decent. Not the best written show ever, but it’s weird enough to keep me interested.
Halfway through the second episode, agree on the writing, I’ll most likely see it through to the end.
I plan on starting in on it tonight... and I know I'll watch it through, regardless. I'm a sucker for any sci-fi, even shitty sci-fi.
I'm through the first three episodes and I'm enjoying it. They probably overuse flashbacks but it does help with the backstory. Overall I think it's pretty good so far.
I finished it last night. I am a sucker for scifi, and this was slick and adult and fun to watch. The story fills out as you go, but, honestly, isn't that amazing. I enjoyed it anyway.
I just got around to it tonight... and 5 episodes into it can say that I am really enjoying it. I had no idea the lead was the guy from The Killing... he's got some half-decent range, that's for sure. It might not be the best of the best sci-fi ever, but it's pretty solid production and story, if you ask me. Again, I'm a sucker for sci-fi... I even subscribe to Asimov's monthly sci-fi magazine/rag still (it's like the sci-fi version of Reader's Digest... great toilet reading), so take that for whatever it's worth.
I like it, but it suffers from the acting. It really needs a bigger star to anchor it and make it compelling. Joel Kinnaman is just okay, kind of like a poor man's Sam Rockwell or something.
I watched the show, then got into the books, and am loving them. I described this show to someone at work as "having a similar feel to Blade Runner, but actually interesting".
This is going to sound horrible, but we’re there two Asian sleeves that housed Takeshi? The one when he’s in the rebel camp and the one who was the soldier that defected when he found his sister? I feel like there were two actors who looked a lot alike.
I just watched the first episode, and I didn't like it. The acting and writing were both pretty bad in my opinion. "Whose murder do I have to solve?" "Mine!". Ugh. Everything else about it just reaked of trying to hard. Trying too hard to be Blade Runner, trying too hard to be a conflicted anti-hero, trying too hard to be deep and mind fucky. Maybe I'm just getting jaded with TV.
Altered Carbon just got renewed for Season 2... with a new lead. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/l...ewed-season-2-new-star-anthony-mackie-1130243
Might be the only show where a completely new lead actor makes total sense. This ain't no Aunt Viv situation. Watched the series, now reading the first book. Book is better, as usual, and hits on many more themes that the show doesn't have time for. It's also told entirely from the first person, so you don't have that show problem of getting attached to an actor who *should be* totally disposable. It's very detective noire, where the following books take a very different tack.
Can’t wait. The other books in the series kind of sucked, so here’s hoping they went their own (better) way for season 2.
Anthony Mackie is my favorite. I’m honestly just so stoked that there is a second season. I was sure this would be another one and done Netflix series. I can’t wait for this series to come back!
