Yeah, as much as I like Ventura and Adam, I couldn't listen to that stupid fucking nonsense.

It's funny too, because another paranoid guy, Joe Rogan, was on the other day, and it was one of the best podcasts I've ever listened to, and definitely the best featuring Rogan. None of Joe's alternative medicine, pseudo-science, or spirituality bullshit, just solid, funny conversation.

One of the more interesting shows I've heard recently was with Sammy Hagar. I'm a huge Van Halen and Hagar fan, so it was interesting to hear him talk a bit about the breakup and stuff.

    And he's 62. Looks about 45.

I couldn't believe he sold his tequila company for $100m

    Crazy.

I've heard Jesse go off on his conspiracy stuff on Stern and I just have to turn off the "radio."

KIMaster: I have avoided the Rogan Podcast based upon your comments about his alt medicine, pseudo-science, etc. stuff; it did not sound like something I would enjoy. But I agree with you, he was great on the Carolla Podcast. I think I will give Rogan a chance.

Maybe I will too; if more of Rogan's recent podcasts were like his appearance on Carolla, it would definitely be worth a listen.

Anyways, now that it has been on for a while, what do you guys think of the Larry Miller podcast?

I enjoy the Larry Miller podcast, for the most part, especially when he's talking about stories from the past.

For a while he was getting away from them too much and talking about relating to the audience more than he should, as in "but I know you get that too", but he seems to be focusing a bit more lately.

I usually have it on when I'm doing menial shit in the garage or doing the dishes or cooking dinner, so it's more filler than anything. It's a nice change from Adam every so often, when you're just not in the mood for a rant or 9.

I dig Larry Miller and his podcasts are decent. However I'm glad they retired the Roadtrip Game for the most part, I always would fast forward past it.

You guys ever look at the Carolla Boards? What a bunch of whiny, fickle motherfuckers they are over there.

Yes I just checked them out the other day and I thanked god that this place has a very very low tolerance for the bullshittery that goes on on other message boards. I can only listen to Ace Broadcasting shows on my computers. For some reason my first gen touch isn't compatible with their podcast. I haven't been able to listen to them since the last firmware update (they stopped firmware updates for 1st gens after that). Because of this Ive been downloading different podcast. Despite the crap the Joe Rogan talks about 80% of his shows, he still has a different variety of guest and can shoot the shit one on one pretty well. Since Adam's show has turned more into a morning show I like Rogans podcast for more in depth conversations. My eyes glaze over when he talks about his immersion tank and mushroom medicine though. I agree Rogan's episode with Adam was one of the better Aceman podcast in a long while.

Still sometimes the better guest on Adam's show still get a one on one and Adam is the best at doing that. Hagar and Ventura were both great episodes. I wish they had focused on some of his history in wrestling but it was a short podcast, though his time in the Navy Seals was still fascinating. I just shake my head when ever someone mentions nut ball conspiracy theories.

One of the things I really like about Adam and find hilarious is that he knows that he's a huge pussy when it comes to self esteem and confronting people in social situations. I thought the story he told a few weeks ago about a Loveline interview he did with Jerry Cantrell was fucking hilarious. How he secretly never wanted guest to begin with because he doesn't like handling them (more of a spineless thing than Adam being an asshole) was great, and Adam relays the story perfectly. I really want to catch a show of his when Im back in the states.

RIP Daves of Thunder. I miss you. Yeah, I said it.

I followed the podcast more than any TV show I've ever watched. It was portable (fake) drama I could re-listen to whenever I wanted. I'd even like to pose that Podcasts are more important to me than TV. In such high paced lives we all have its good to know its always going to be there whenever and I can't say my favorite episodes of TV shows will. Well... until I get TiVo.

    Does this make me crazy?

Larry Miller I like Miller alot as a comic, actor, and writer. In fact, even though I have seen a total of 2 and one-half plays/musicals in NYC I actually saw the play, the Dinner Party that he discussed in a recent podcast. He, and the play were very good.

I enjoyed parts of Miller's early podcast efforts but they were not a "must" listen for me. I've just listened to the last 3 podcasts (had a long drive yesterday) and I like that he's focusing on telling "old school" stories. The stuff about meeting Sinatra was fantastic. I think Miller's podcast is improving and I plan to listen regularly. I will also join the Larry Miller Drinking Society. I love the motto "You call that a double??".

I cannot stand Dave Damechek (sp?). I can't tell you why. He rubs me the wrong way. I not only never listened to Daves of Thunder, I won't listen when hes on Carolla's podcast, and I would switch stations when he came on Adam's radio show. He may be a perfectly lovely human being and a funny comic, but he is like finger nails on a chalk board for me.

Ive said it before, Dameshek was a fucking egomaniac and painfully unfunny. Even if he was trying to create the persona for comic effect it didn't work, David Letterman has a similar latent asshole persona I can't stand.

If you guys want some off the wall comedy, some shit off the beaten path, try the Big 3 Podcast. Two of the guys are actors/comedians, and the third is just this weird insane guy that they're friends with, but also fucking with. They also did this movie a few years back called Windy City Heat which depending on your alcohol intake and sense of humor is good for one watch.

Id have to say the Aceman has been ON the past week or so, some truly funny shows. Funny how Alison is trying to shoe horn in zingers at totally off beat times and they just shoe her off. It's strange to hear Adam's take on the retarded business culture of Hollywood, his whole rant about a new audio book is stunning. On another note I was kind of disappointed to learn that Deaf Frat Guy was actually a comedians character and not a real deaf guy. I never researched DFG out or knew him before but used to think his appearances on the show were fucking hilarious.

You think so? I really love Alison's contribution to the show. I think she is perfect in her role.

I agree with you that the Aceman has been great the past week, but not even Carolla could say us from the unfunny idiocy that was Natasha Leggero. I know Adam is hard up for celebrity guests, but his crew really needs to stop booking that shallow moron.

What's most startling is that Adam is essentially doing them a favor by offering to produce a second audio book in the first place, but they don't want to do it because they only want to pay $1,000 instead of $2,000 to Lynch and Dawson...while still splitting all the proceeds. Totally insane.

Same. I thought the guy was very funny, and when I learned it was a comedian and not an actual deaf frat guy, I was disappointed.

Amen, the episode where he discusses autoerotic asphyxiation is still one of my all time favorite episodes.

On another note, Mike O'Malley was a fucking buzzkill on today's episode.

Yeah, the rant on homosexuals supposedly dying in large numbers in the US was fucking stupid, unnecessary soap-boxing. Props to Ace for handling it in a funny manner. And beyond that, I can't recall a single funny or worthwhile comment O'Malley added to the show.

Allison Rosen, while in a constant state of trying very hard, is a great fit for that show. Old episodes with and guest spots by Teresa Strauser are painful. Why Allison voluntarily recorded "I agree with Charles Manson" with no context is beyond me, but they haven't overplayed it just yet. I found the Ventura trainwreck to be highly entertaining, particularly when Adam was trying to play through the pain in integrating the GoToMyPC spot.

Listening to the AC Podcast is one of the highlights of my work day. He definitely has a better hit-vs-miss rate than the Rogan Experience.

Every time I have doubts about Dr Drew he comes on the podcast and assuage them. He seems to have an new show every ten minutes and Im starting to think Celebrity Rehab is more exploitive than I think a truly caring doctor would allow. But fuck is the dude doesn't seem like an insanely intelligent, hard working, humble guy. He reads Tocqueville, what a G.

New little drinking game for the podcast:

Take a swig of beer every time he mentions or references how lazy/poor his parents were.

Shotgun a full beer every time Adam says:

    Refractory period
    Zygote

and if you want to get really hammered:

Take a shot every live read he does.

Really? Whether he is aware of it or not, Dr. Drew is an insane narcissist who enables patients and likely does more harm than good with all his shitty television shows, glamorizing the treatment process more than anything.

He doesn't strike me as particularly intelligent, either; I used to live in Pasadena, and have met and listened to Drew in real life. One of my friends also met with, and occasionally made the medical rounds with him. (Yeah, the guy is fucking everywhere; that much is certainly true) By the standards of a medical doctor, Drew's knowledge and ability is very underwhelming.

Specifically, he knows a lot about various narcotics, dependencies and treatments for them, but he is out of his depth on most other subjects. He is no more an expert on the other stuff than a third year med student.

Anyways, he makes for a decent guest on the show because of the rapport he has with Adam, but he's a shitty witch doctor otherwise.

Just because a doctor specializes in one area and isn't proficient in all other areas doesn't make him a shitty doctor or unintelligent person otherwise. From what Ive heard about the medical profession is that this is basically how it works in most, if not all, cases of medical specialists. I don't hold that against him if he's spent his career focusing on substance abuse and doesn't know the ins and outs of proctology. The only thing I really find troubling is his media whore nature, which he has addressed and even written about it (I hear his celebrity narcissism book is pretty good). But every time he sits down with Adam, when he's not in CNN Michael Jackson death watch mode, he sounds like a fairly intelligent human being, Im talking upper 2 percent*, and extremely dedicated to hard work and consuming knowledge.

    * Your opinion will probably vary but hey I didn't spent my youth solving complex mathematic equations for fun.
