One of the strongest ones every recorded, and in a highly-populated area.

    Article about tsunami warnings

Hawaii's looking at an 8 foot wall of water.

All joking aside: SamN (I think?), once you get your ass out of dodge, I'm sure we'd all be relieved to get an update on your living status.

    And about the actual quake

It's already not looking good in Chile, but if this tsunami happens it could get really bad, really quick.

    Focus: FUCK!!

I've done my part by starting the slow-cooked pork roast for dinner and cracking open a beer.

You're a giver, that is for sure. Isn't it about 10:30 in the AM where you live? I hope they appreciate the sacrifice.

I think this just may be the one time that I am happy that I live in the midwest and not in Hawaii even if I haven't seen the sun in 113 days.

I put a few posts on this subject in the drunkie thread.
They're planning for the worst right now. The tsunami sirens are scary as fuck at 6am.
They're predicting that the big island is gonna get the smack down.
    More to come later.

Ma' boo is in Hawaii now. I'm about to call him with strict instructions not to die. Hopefully that does the trick.

Edit: What the hell? My calls aren't going through.

Holy shit. Just got a call from my friend that just moved to Hawaii, telling me to direct him to high ground. I'm not great with directions, so I hope I didn't just drown him. I just led him to the nearest mountain I could find. Don't fail me google maps.

Well now you made me feel bad. I only cracked a beer.

It was a big bottle, though.

The governor of Hawaii just gave an address to the state via Skype.
    Nothing but class this state.
She still doesn't make any fucking sense. Goddamn politicians aren't worth shit.

The police are having to go to the beaches to tell people that it might be a bad idea "to watch the tsunami".
The news is still trying to convince the surfers that the surf will be shitty.
I don't think it's a good idea to start drinking quite yet.

Dude... they're waves. Slow waves. You can TOTALLY outrun them.

Get us some pics and video, and post that shit here.

We're all living vicariously through you, so don't let us down.

CNN keeps instructing applicable areas to check Facebook and Twitter, where local governments are posting evacuation orders, warnings, where to get supplies, etc.

Funny how things change. I'm guessing the radio stations are still playing lady gaga.

Four hours of prep time = one very well documented natural event. Wait and see, they'll be calling this the YouTube Tsunami.

I think a good test of BJ Penn's takedown defense will be to see if he can get hit full on by an 8 foot wall of water and not go down.

That said, I've also cracked a beer.

Him and my geology professor. We've just been studying earthquakes and faults, etc. We spent a fair deal of time looking at the Haiti earthquakes so this will get him excited too.

One of my good buddies is stationed out in Hawaii so I'm guessing he's busier than hell now. I am just hoping he and his wife will be safe.

*Just talked to him. They already live on high ground so they'll be fine. I was glad to hear that.

A buddy of mine sent this to me the other day. I don't know where he found it, but it made me laugh. Hard.

Apparently Chilean officials are concerned that the quake collapsed part of a prison wall and inmates escaped into the city.

Gilbert Arenas is headed there now.

T- 30minutes till the apocalypse hits Hawaii.

I wonder how many surfers are out on the ocean waiting for that thing to hit.
