    I'm not a metal fan, but I agree with the musicality of it at its core. With alot of the minor and abstract tunings, most good metal musicians, specifically guitarists, are really musically literate and talented. Also, in my experience, despite the genre they play, they usually have a pretty wide range of musical tastes. My tattoo artist is a drummer for a pretty heavy, dense metal band, but when I asked him to play a mix that his band would listen to when they are in a van touring, it was a mix of everything from metal, to Justin Timberlake's second album, to Rodrigo and Gabriela. Its great to talk music with.

    But death and black metal is just a weird cultural thing that takes as much pride in being fucking abrasive and aggressive as the music itself.

    As for Iggy Azalea, I'm actually a fan. Is it poppy rap? Sure. But for a white girl from Australia, she has a pretty respectable flow and she's got a swagger and attitude that doesn't seem forced. When Nikki Minaj first came out, she was legitimately talented, but then she got caught up in being a fucking weird, larger than life personality, making shitty tracks. Iggy reminds me of Nikki Minaj style wise early on, but with less lyrical ability. Also, the TI influence is pretty apparent compared to Nikki coming from NYC.

    And to play Devil's advocate about her "accent", she moved to Miami by herself at 16. That's a pretty developmental age. Falling in with a hip hop set in a foreign country at that age, makes perfect sense why she would pick up a way of speaking. If you hear her interviewed, she doesn't sound like a hood rat. She sounds like someone who has spend alot of time with southerners in an urban environment.
