Jerry Jones let his ego get in the way and had to trade Parsons to Green Bay, LOL. A young probabel future hall of fame player for 2 probably late 1st round picks and an old DT. She Girl must be happy as hell over it. Sorry Cowboy fans.
This only happened because Jerry tried to negotiate without Parson's agent, and was going to get his balls sued off for it, if not in trouble with the NFLPA. Dude just made every player in the league and their agent leery of negotiating with him. Fuck that guy, what a piece of shit. Green Bay overpaid, obviously, but they are betting big on the year, so the next two draft picks wouldn't be high anyway, and if he has an off year they unload him for one of the picks they lost. So...Parsons at a record contract (at least year 1) for a late 20s pick next year? Green Bay didn't strike me as a team that was one player away, but Parsons has a pretty solid shot at a Hall of Fame career. Given the real competition for GB is the Lions, as most folks expect Chicago to do what they always do to young qb's, and the Vikings to regress. Parsons will turn Jared Goff into paste 2 games this year, and that may just clear the way for the playoffs. It also takes some pressure off Jordan Love and an inexperienced receivers room: a defense with someone like Parsons makes takeaways and keeps GB away from shoot out games. I like their chances this year more than the past few. A pro bowl pass rusher in a season where the rest of the division qb's are rookies or Jared Goff definitely alters their trajectory. Also, I think this confirms Dallas is in a silent re-build. I see them planning for Dak's replacement with one of those first round picks, or their own. Their coach is probably on the hot seat in year 1, if for no other reason than if this season tanks, it's clear Jerry won't take any blame. They can lure in another coaching prospect with Dak's potential replacement.
Are you saying they overpaid the player? Because I don't think Dallas got enough in the deal. Micah is a young likely hall of fame pass rusher, so 2 first rounders and a player at the end of his career iisn't an overpay IMO. I think Jerry pissed Micah off so badly that he was making it clear he wouldn't play or wouldn't play with much effort if they didn't trade him. The deal was probably the best he could get at this point in the season. Jerry really needs someone to step in and do player negotiations at this point. Players aren't going to put up with him trying to negotiate without their agents.
