The New England Patriots of baseball a.k.a the first team to get caught doing it. Go Blue Jays! Buy that stacked bullpen Yankees-style!
AAAAAAAAAND HE’S GONE. I love Cora’s statement though. Basically saying he’s proud of the championship season, while being mutually ousted due to cheating that season. I mean, I’m still happy about that season too. The Sox cheated better in the ALCS and beat the Astros.
Houston fans in my area are big salty. and not at all happy when their chirping about rings in Texas gets drowned out by the cheating stuff.
I’m hoping this whole thing goes away before they find out my team was also involved with some shenanigans. Manfred warned all teams after the Bosox Apple Watch issue that he was drawing a line and would come down hard on any team using electronic means to steal signs. Cora is either a moron or incredibly arrogant to think he would get away with it.
From what I'm read, Sox fans are not salty. Cora fucked up royally. They also are excited because it means Varitek has a chance to be manager. I don't really think I want that.
I think the safe money is on Carlos Beltran never getting to manage the Mets this year. Other teams fired coaches that won them championships (by cheating), the Mets have no ties to Beltran if he’s implicated.
Why can’t every player on the Astros involved in the sign stealing besides Beltran be fired and disgraced too? These aren’t rookie troops being ordered against their will by a corrupt officer. They’re grown adults who KNEW they were cheating, and did it. They were banging Morse code out to batters on a garbage can, for Christ’s sake. imagine the reception the Astros are going to get at every premiere away game this year. Man I hope they’re coming to Toronto, I’ll get tickets for that for sure. The heckling will be gold, every one will want off the team and they will suck this year. You watch.
Honest answer is because their player's union basically has too much power to allow them to be disciplined. Technically MLB COULD try and do it, but the union could basically drag the whole thing out years, at which point, what would be the actual consequences?
I honestly feel compelled to back a union because of what they stood for in the first place, but they always seem to generally suck in spite of context. they can’t strip Houston’s title for this, can they? That seems like it would have a lot of moving parts. I don’t think it’s on the docket but people have brought it up.
Why can’t hey just dot he RIGHT thing, and suspend the actual Astros franchise from the league? Why does Jim Crane get no punishment, gets fined chump change and then gets to pretend like nothing happened? And to add insult to injury, they are now punishing players for speaking out against this, as if they have no right to complain about being cheated. Inever thought I would say this as long as I live, but please give the Dodgers the World Series. or let them say. I have to affair I’m looking forward to every single bit of harassment they’re going to get on away games. Their franchise is poison now, nobody will want to go there. The new Cleveland Indians.
Mlb determined that punishing the entire 2017 team has collateral damage due to players moving on etc. I don’t know. They did what they did and not one of them has expressed any regret yet. That I’ve seen at least.
