    Pete Hamilton, winner of the 1970 Daytona 500 dead at 74. Probably not the biggest name ever, but if you followed racing in that era, this was one of the big upsets of the time. Pete was a rookie driver that year and outfought David Pearson over the last ten laps or so to win. He later went on to win the two Talledega races that year for one of the best rookie seasons ever. Alas, he only won one other race after that rookie season.
