In news that may only sadden me and Toytoy, Beast Mode retires. Naturally, he did it in the best way possible. Focus: Offseason stuff.
Its super sad to me. He was one of my favorite players. He was always unapolegetically himself. People may not have always liked that, but he was always true. Really impressed to hear he supposedly never spent any of his salary, just endorsement money. Then to go out in such an understated but awesome way, good on him. I suspect he'll fade from the spotlight but continue giving a lot back.
Agreed, I thought Lynch was great as well. Not just for his talent, but just not giving a fuck in general. I'll miss him.
It's a shame Lynch retired. Calvin Johnson retiring too? Peyton possibly? The league will definitely have a different look next year. I'm really interested to see what happens in early March once the moves really start to be made.
He also coined one of the best terms in NFL history "I'm just here so I don't get fined." That will never be forgotten and neither will he. What a monster.
I can't stand TO (and he's still the same guy, he's been on Mike and Mike this morning for almost two hours), but how he wasn't a 1st Ballot HOFer is beyond me. The guy was a fantastic receiver. One of the best ever. I love Marvin Harrison, but TO deserves to be in there just as much.
Totally agree. TO and Moss both, just uncoverable at times. I would have loved to have seen them both in the current rule structure that favors receivers. TO would even block on occasion, but can imagine if Moss had been able to break off inside knowing that the free safety wouldn't (couldn't) crack his head open? Is that receiver even out there today?
Maybe Gronkowski? I know he's a TE, but he reminds me of Moss in the way that you can throw the ball within 5 yards of the guy and he somehow will come up with it.
A.J. Green is probably the closest to Moss in the league right now. I can't think of a good comp for Owens. Maybe Demaryius Thomas?
Lol, Dez Bryant. Moss ran a 4.25. Bryant runs a 4.52. Huge difference, imo, but admittedly, I hate the Cowboys so much, that I rarely see what he does. And, that's a good point about Gronk - he is uncoverable, at times, but not because of speed. That's what I was thinking about - somebody that's just so fast and runs routes so well, that they're always a big play threat and defenses have to give up something to prevent it.
I said for TO not Randy Moss. TO ran about a 4.5. Dez and Randy Moss are nothing alike other than being top-tier WRs are their respective times.
To answer what Marshawn Lynch's retirement plans are: Marshawn Lynch rides camel while rapping in Egypt http://www.khq.com/story/31355191/hot-clicks-marshawn-lynch-rides-camel-while-rapping-in-egypt
Peyton Manning has announced his retirement. I think the timing is perfect. He isn't the same QB he was over the years he earned his hall of fame entrance. I'm glad we won't be seeing him drift between teams in his early 40s, not even good enough to start anymore. I'm glad too that he was able to get one more ring before he finished. In truth he had little to do with this super bowl run, but perhaps winning it in what was maybe the worst year of his career will inform fans about his not winning it in the years he was the best player in the league.
