It is not over. I saw the other day that the Athletics had only one team on their remaining schedule with a winning record. (the Rangers) but the schedule also included games with the Angels and Mariners, both who have played the Athletics very tough this year. I am hopeful but Washington is a great manager and the Rangers will play very well down the stretch and either win the division or be a wild card. (As will the Athletics).

Horseshit. The A's should pull away hard and fast the rest of this month. We have no pitching, and we can't put runners across the plate consistently to save our asses.

Grant Balfour has three blown saves since the all star game. Two of those were with two run leads. Not exactly what I want to see as the Athletics start to get ready for the post season.

I would be remiss if I did not point out that the Oakland Athletics are the 2013 Western Division Champions. This is the 16th time they have won their division in 46 years and only the Atlanta Braves and the Yankees have won more.
It is also the fourth time that they have won back to back Divisional Championships and have won Four World Series since moving to Oakland.

Go Braves! I would like to point out that we won 14 in a row and are hopefully starting a new streak this year. Best of luck to the Athletics until we meet in the World Series.

Congratulations, seriously. A steady season chipping away yields results.

But y'all gotta do something about that ballpark.

The Oakland ballpark is not as bad as it is made out to be. It has great public transportation, good parking right next to a freeway, the sightlines are ok even if you are a bit faraway from the field. I personally love the large foul areas as at least once a game you can steal away an out that would just be into the stands at any other park. The problems are magnified as the owner wants to move and takes every opportunity to cry to the public. He finally has had a good team that has stayed together for a couple of years and the fans have responded with a pretty dramatic increase in attendance. Now that the owner cannot use poor attendance as an excuse to move, he is looking for something else. Having said that, the park is owned by the city and county and they have been deferring maintenance for way too many years. Shit is wearing out.

As I have always said. Give me a good sightline, a good nearby bathroom, cold reasonable priced beer and the ability to get out of the parking lot in less than 20 minutes and I am good. All that other ballpark stuff is window dressing.

Now I just hope the A's can catch the Red Sox for best AL record.

I've never been, they never had a home game while The Husband was in Monterey, so we never went.

That said, I know players who hate going there. There's something to that.

Either way. Jesus fuck I don't want baseball to end.

I don't want it to end for you either. The Red Sox are in, but I don't want to have to deal with the Rays in the postseason. I just fucking hate them. I'm a Texas fan for the next week.

That was an awesome gesture last night to send out Jeter and Pettitte to the mound to pull Rivera.

But did anybody check with Brian McCann to make sure that was OK to do?

Girardi said he asked to make sure it was okay, then asked again if two players could go out.

He only asked the umpires, not the fat bearded arbiter of baseball's unwritten rules.

Fucking A. Gomez was way out of line, yapping the entire way around the bases. Fuck him, I wish McCann had leveled his ass right there.

Gomez was WAY out of line, but you hit him, he pimped.

He pulled the same thing with Fernandez and the Marlin.

In both cases, he was smart enough not to escalate it to the next level. Some other idiot ran in and did that.

Damn, I had missed all of that shit.

I guess that could be a good strategy for any team playing the Braves in the postseason, just admire every home run you hit.

AL Wild Card comes down to one day. I am a Blue Jays fan tomorrow.

Bring on the Tigers. With the first two games at home, I am feeling much better about the A's chances this year.
