The left wing party crushed the right wing party. Almost the same thing that happened in Canada happened in Australia. Even the right wing leader is projected to lose his seat and be out of government. From an outside observer, the right wing party ran a horrible campaign. They had a few really key errors and the Trump effect didn't help, but they really didn't give a good reason to vote them into power. My new country is going well.
What she said. Whilst our reelected government isn't perfect it's a damn sight better than the clowns who opposed them and lost. Best result we could have had. And as a side note, whilst we claim to have a compulsory voting system all you really need to do is get your name ticked off, accept the ballot paper and put it into the ballot box. We have no laws that require you to actually mark the ballot paper. So reality is it's an au$20 fine for not voting, hardly an imposition. We also typically have less than 1% of invalid votes so it seems to be accepted. I can understand apathy or indifference to voting but non-participation just reduces the number of votes the 'winners' need get. At the least just vote backwards with the biggest wanker getting the least preference.
In a press event, he was asked who he thought should be the next pope, and he said it should be him. Unless that was fake news.
We need to find whoever runs the White House Twitter account and give them as many swirlies in a high school bathroom as it takes: https://x.com/WhiteHouse/status/1919053040734072844
na, i am beginning to think straight up sending people to black sites, and see how many it takes to get people to listen.
Trump announced 100% tariffs on all movies made outside the US. The 2026 Oscar for Best Foreign Film is going to go to "fuck if I know, I'm not paying $40 to watch a Bollywood flick." ...also he wants to reopen Alcatraz, despite it closing six decades ago and it currently being a tourist attraction.
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5280304-kamala-harris-senate-democrats-2028-race/amp/ OMFG! These people, whomever "cautiously opened that door", don't understand voters, at all.

Carney just had a sit down with Trump... and it was masterful. We have the right PM leading us right now.
I don't know what your fuckin' problem is up there. Trump just said he only wants friendship. What's the issue?
I love Carney explaining to Trump how some things are for sale and others aren't in the same manner I taught my 5 year old that we can't always have ice-cream for dinner
You have to speak to that fat idiot in the same way you train a dog to stay off the furniture. Anything above that and it’s terrorism.
My favourite part was when Carney said "we'll never be for sale". Trump said, "never say never", and then Carney mouthed "never" to the journalists.
