Whew. Sorry for the late thread, y'all. My cheeks are pink and my deodorant is working. I never clean harder than before a visitor. This is a reminder to add certain chores to the weekly cleaning rotation.

Today is National Read Tolkien Day.

When I search for sexy hobbits, why is it mostly male hobbits?

    upload_2022-3-25_15-29-27.jpeg

But when I look for hobbit porn, turns out there's a porn version of The Hobbit. Because of course there is.

I received a box set of the Lord of the Rings series in the 4th grade but did not read it for a couple years. There are some long traveling snore chapters that my distractible mind could not tolerate. I do love the books though, and the movies are beautiful.

Speaking of distractable, yesterday while deep in thought, I forgot I was going down the stairs and missed the last 2 completely, hitting my knee on the baby gate and spilling a bunch of marigold seedlings everywhere. I'll be really careful for about 6 months and then do it again.

The picture I sent to my husband for sympathy.

Happy Friday, y'all! I've got a brand new box of wine in my cabinet and ready for a grandma visit in t-20 minutes. Wish me luck.

So there was a video on reddit earlier of a 14 year old kid falling off one of those "tower drop" rides at a carnival. To say the word "splat" applied to the audio would be an understatement.

God, I was afraid you were going to pick that for the national day theme.

It's also national waffle day, you know.

I've never enjoyed Tolkien's work; I read "The Hobbit" when I was in junior high, as assigned reading.

I tried reading the second LOTR book in prison when we were on a lockdown, and I just couldn't do it. He's just too long-winded; I have the same complaint about Herman Melville.

Just so we're clear, I found this book so boring that I couldn't finish it, even though I literally had nowhere to go and nothing to do.

I can say the same thing about "Moving On," by Larry McMurtry.

I think I read The Hobbit ages ago.
And then tried LOTR and got bored. Couldn’t do it.

Never saw them in theater. Never tried.
I don’t hate them they just don’t grab my attention at all.

I sat for another session on my Phoenix tattoo today and now that she’s packing color into the work, it’s coming together so well

I never got into LOTR either. I get why it’s enjoyable, but I’d much rather read about someone’s actual experiences in WWI than some vague parable about it with elves.

CS Lewis felt the same to me. I could skip three pages at a time without losing too much context.

I think someone said something awhile back about all the food themes so I thought I'd go a different direction. Do you try to anticipate the theme? Is there a betting pool?!

So when my MiL got here, she saw that her battery was on fire. She doused it and filled the trunk with water. My neighbor came to diagnose and then we shopvac'd it out. What an entrance!

Here's another spoiler: the brown-skinned people with the turbans and the curved swords are Muslims. And their god is Satan.

How does a lion lead sheep? It seems like a bad allegory.
