RAVE: Weather turned really nice this weekend! RANT: I've been really sick since Friday afternoon and am in that zone where I can't sleep or can't stay awake... congested chest, no nasal congestion... bad chest cough, etc. The CPAP has been quite interesting during this, my first sick period trying to sleep with it.
Rant: Same as above. My wife JUST got over some kind of sinus infection. Now it seems I have it. Felt like straight ass on Friday morning and worsened throughout the day. RAVE: To my utter amazement, I was able to get a 5:45 PM appointment that evening. Saw the same person my wife saw. Steroid shot, antibiotics, cough syrup (the good stuff) and I'm doing somewhat better. The CPAP was not helping when I woke up Friday morning, but the past couple of nights have been ok.
Rave: I'm finally getting rid of this Toyota Prius that has been in my front yard since 2020. We let an old friend and her boyfriend move in when they struggled during covid. She left in late 2020 and hasn't replied to any messages about the car and all her personal belongings, and is apparently living in Minnesota now, I think. When I get the title after the waiting period, it's going to a young family in their early twenties and about to have their third kid. Hope they can either use it or get money from the sale. Guy says his parents own an auto shop and can fix it, it'd be awesome if he can.
He's gone. I was able to rush home from work and send him off with love at least. I was never allowed to have dogs or cats growing up and he was my first. I couldn't have imagined up a better dog, a better friend. I'm just heartbroken.
RAVE: Buddy broke up with his girlfriend so for the price of a ticket transfer I'll be in an all inclusive 5 star resort next week. 2000 sq foot suite so it's not like we're sleeping in a room with 2 queen beds. He didn't even date her that long! Its amazing.
Rave: Saw Ice Cube in last night, i live 1000 miles from a major city, but for some reason he came to a town only 500 miles away. The opening acted kind of sucked, but he rocked a 2 hour set. Fucking amazing Rant: Some guy put each of his hands on my each of my shoulder. I grab his finger just about to twist it and lay him out, but i didn't want to get kicked out, so i didn't. But the fucking adrenaline dump had me shaking for 5 minutes after. Been a couple of decades since i been that close to a fight.
rant: had to put one of our dogs down today. The little blind and deaf one who wandered off a few months ago and we presumed dead, until we randomly encountered her far away a few days later. Her back legs went out, she was struggling to breathe, and was in clear and obvious pain. rave?: she made the decision easy for us to humanly end her suffering. Long life for a tiny chihuahua too -- 15 years. Max she ever weighed was 4 lbs. She was just over 1 lbs when she was put under.
Rant: One of my co-workers' had to go to the hospital by ambulance and one of the medics was a guy I used to work with when I was a paramedic. Apparently he told the wife, also a co-worker, about the nickname he bestowed upon me 20+ years ago. ( He and others did that for a lot of people, everyone had a nick name. ) When she told me, I laughed, told her the story behind it, and that it was something I was commonly called by medics and firemen througout the county "back in the day." She said she wouldnt tell anyone at work, but since then she's used it - twice quietly, and once not so quietly this morning. I heard her, but didn't respond. It's not that it bothers or embarasses me, but it's from another time in my life and I don't want it following me in this work life. Anyone from "then" is free to call me that, and some do, but not "now", they haven't earned that right, if that makes sense. We're gonna have a conversation this afternoon, or the next time she says it. Petty, I know, but...
Rave: I have a plan in place to retire at the age of 65 1/2, on the last day before Christmas break in 2039. I'll turn 65 in June that year, but need to stay a few months over to get my full 20 years* on the insurance plan, at which point upon retirement it's FREE for the following 20 years. The only flaw in my plan was our mortgage, which we refinanced in 2016 to do a build out and new kitchen. I thought we had a 30 year mortgage and was prepared to stick around a couple extra years if I had to. My wife informed me last night we took it out for 20. The house will be paid off no later than 3 years before I retire. My plan is full go, fifteen years and done. *I won't have a full 20 years for my state pension, but it's only a couple hundred dollars a month difference so fuck it, close enough.
