I guess what I'm curious about here is why does it matter what kind of banker she was? Admin, Teller, Cubicle Occupier...doesn't seem like that should have any impact if she was discriminated against. If she was the hot janitor, would it have made any difference?

It seems like her role, no matter how important (or not), is essentially inconsequential in lieu of the situation.

No doubt she is a beautiful woman, and I personally would never want to censure that beauty in any way.

I have also never been Manhattan and don't know what would be considered the line in correct business attire for women.

I could, however, understand if an executive or bigwig saw her like that and for whatever reason thought, "That could cause problems. She needs to wear a blazer when she is in the bank." I can think of a few off the top of my head, some which have been mentioned but I won't.

Do you see anything wrong with this so far?

Salary, benefits, bonuses and potential future earnings all bear directly on how much she might win in a settlement or trial. The higher up she is, the more money she could potentially win.

What do you mean "technically harassed"? I understand that there's so much that goes unreported, but it all depends what you consider harassment. For example, you say an intern touched you a lot. Do you mean he actually grabbed your tits and ass, or that he was just a touchy person in general? If it's the former, then that's unfortunate, but if the latter, did you really consider it to be harassment? Did he intend it to be sexual touching? Would he have touched a man like that, and would the man have taken it sexually? There's many many things that are up to an individual to decide whether they feel harassed or not. When a male supervisor tells a female subordinate that she looks nice today, is that harassment? There's so many factors: how he said it, how she interpreted it, what their relationship is (maybe they're good friends) that need to be taken into account.

I'm not trying to disagree with you, really. I'm sure 99% of real harassment does go unreported. My general feeling is just that, men and women are going to be sexually attracted to each other. As a society you can't get around that, and when you throw men and women together into the workplace, shit's going to happen. I think blaming it on "patriarchal society," as some have done, is a bit uncalled for.

And where in the article does it say what kind of manager this woman had? What I meant was that if I read a similar article where the woman was harassed like that, with only her side of the story I would readily believe it, whereas this article I don't necessarily believe.

Like I said, I would readily believe a story like shegirl's and not label the woman as a man-hater at all. But a story like this, where the claim is that her bosses told her to dress more conservatively and that she was fired for being too attractive, you don't think that should raise some questions? It's a very unusual claim, that's the whole reason someone made a thread about it, so of course there will be more scrutiny of it. I don't see where comments like "No wonder so many women really do hate men" come from when no one has even labeled her a man-hater for speaking up; everyone is just posing more questions than otherwise because it is such an unusual claim.

I haven't either but I have had to dress in business attire for a long long time and I can tell you, from what I know, and do myself, the pants and turtleneck is 100% acceptable business attire. I dress very similar and in no means do I have a small rack but if my Boss came to me and said, "Hey shegirl your attire although perfectly acceptable could cause problems so you need to wear a blazer." I'd be pissed. Why should I be singled out to have to don an extra layer because of my (lets just boil this right down to what it's really about) boobs?

OK. I think pig had it right when he pegged this girl as one of the ones who work in the glass cubicle on the other side of the bank from the tellers. She is a step up. She doesn't count the money, she makes it: and gets paid well for it.

What if your boss was a woman and came to you, gave you a few valid reasons, and asked you to tone it down a little while you were in the bank?

EDIT: I just gave you a boob job. You now have D's, maybe even DD's. Enjoy!

Bingo. That IS what it's about. Nature is nature, and you can't change what you're endowed with. If you had an employee that was hydrocephalic and the bank manager asked him to have a water shunt installed into his head to drain it because his enormous 1950's alien movie-like cranium was freaking the customers out, it would have been a crime against humanity and every news antenna from across the country would be rising out of the vans outside the bank. Instead, it's "You have sweet tits and the customers watched 80's porn too much. You're fired for giving them the wrong ideas."

The thing is, who are the afraid of? Who is she actually offending? Any guy that would be offended by this is a sheltered gay lunatic, and any woman offended would just be a jealous bitch. She's not dressed like some streetwalking prick pincher, so whoever is pulling the strings need to climb out of the dark, pathetic hole they call a mind. What year is it again?

    1. I don't think what she does at the bank should have any bearing on this issue, business dress is business dress, period.

    2. If my Boss were a women (one of them is BTW but not my direct) I would feel the exact same way and perhaps be even more offended that she felt it was ok to approach me in the first place. If I was wearing what she is in that pic, here or at a bank, I know it is very appropriate for the venue in which I work which is why I'd be pissed about having to "tone it down" with a blazer. Now if they put that rule into effect for all employees, I suppose that'd be one thing but to single me out for that reason is just not right.

    3. And thanks but I'm just fine with what God already gave me.

The tellers at my bank don't dress the same as the loan officers.
I'm surprised but glad to hear you say that you would equally be offended if your female boss approached you.
To say that you would be more offended than if your male boss approached you because she thinks it's ok, and there is clearly a problem with your attire, who then do you approve ok to approach you?

Well the ones at the bank that hold the business account for the office, that I'm in just about daily do. Perhaps it is a location based thing. I don't know.

And dude, no one because I think it's bullshit to ask me to do that when I am quite clearly in line with business attire and in line with set dresscodes.

No one has a right to tell me that basically my tits are too big or I'm too curvy in my shirt that day so I need to wear a blazer. Like I said inflict that rule on everyone and that's one thing but to pick one person is simply wrong.

I'm beating the horse here so unless something new is brought to the table I'm done.

I looked at a resume awhile back that had "I'm transgender" underneath the references.

Where would he/she fit into this whole thing? Would the male employees be angry because they have to deal with a Sandra Bernhard look alike all day? Would the females be jealous of his/her mangina? Would "it" think both sexes would want to fuck it and file sexual harrasment towards everyone?

Office politics get complicated when you bring genitalia into the equation.

What an odd coincidence. I am wearing a short sleeved cotton turtle neck at work right now. A few months ago, I happened to wear it to work for the first time on the same day another girl - we'll call her Lesser Tits - wore it (which was damned embarrassing). I have 38D's. I don't know what she has, but they're much smaller.

On that first day of turtle neck-y misfortune, my boss took me aside and told me it wasn't appropriate office wear, as it was 'too provocative'. I asked him if anyone was having this discussion with Lesser Tits. He looked puzzled and asked why. When I explained to him that she and I were wearing the exact same shirt in a different colour, he said he hadn't noticed, which pissed me right off.

Why should the size of my rack mean I have to ban clothing from my closet that is perfectly acceptable for other people to wear to the office? Fuck you, I'm not wearing a blazer in my broiling hot cube, in the middle of summer. I make a point of wearing this turtle neck at least once a month now, because fuck them. I am not going to wear pants 2 sizes to big so that they almost fall off my hips, to prevent them being 'too tight', and as long as my skirt isn't more than 4 inches above the knee, I don't give a goddamn if you don't like it. And here's the thing guys, shit like this happens to any moderately attractive woman in the work place ALL THE TIME. But because it's not blatant 'hey i want to bend you over a box', people don't recognize the fact that they are discriminating against someone based on their appearance and perceived sexuality.

Oh, as an aside.. while this one admittedly biased article doesn't exactly offer air tight evidence, what more do you guys want than 3 separate emails to HR from the woman? In my corporate culture, that IS the evidence, and is exactly what you're supposed to do in situations like that, because they are so hard to prove. Or was she supposed to have a nanny cam with audio on her at all times?

I have to bust your balls here a little because I think this is awesome. You DO realize the hilarity of trying to have a reasonable, intelligent, conversation about sexual harassment with someone, while in the same post commenting on her tits, right?

Yes, being singled out is wrong. I think it's easy to presume the other bankers were clearly in line regardless of their level of hotness.
I think I see what your saying, particularly if the turtleneck is in line with banks dress code. I must admit I do find it provocative. I want to motorboat her. If she had a blazer on, I don't think it would even occur to me.

What is it that you really want?

I think you've helped me shape my opinion about the focus. Yea, I think woman do have a responsibility to not overly project sexuality in the workplace.

I also think this girl singled herself out and over pushed her boundaries. Just rereading the story, that's my gut.

EDIT: Actually, even with the blazer on I would probably wonder if she had enough under their to motorboat. So no.

Fair, that's what I want. Not to be singled out simply because I look good in what I choose to wear within the set parameters of a dresscode. It isn't my or my bodies fault you'd (or them) would find a turtleneck provocative, leaving the whole blazer thing aside, and want to stick your face between my tits dude. It's yours. And one you're not really ashamed of I bet.

Without getting off track, sort of. Maybe not sexual harassment as its commonly thought of, but a common issue for transgendered people is despite their best efforts to make their gender identification known, they're still referred to in the office by the wrong gender. As in they make it clear that they'd prefer to be referred to as Sir, etc., yet their colleagues insist on calling them by female pronouns (or vice versa). Or complain about them using the 'wrong' bathroom.

I love it when women make an effort to look sleek at work, far better than the alternative.

She should have turned up in a full burka to highlight the gross stupidity and juvenile attitudes being displayed. Imagine telling a male member of staff he has to stop working out and wear less expensive suits because it’s making the other staff feel fat and cheap. Ridiculous.

Well, it's not my bodies fault that I want to stick my face between your tits.
And why in the hell would I be ashamed of that?
I am biologically and genetically programmed to breed with your species!
And you might not think that's fair, but it is honest!
