This should make a few people happy http://sports.yahoo.com/news/whats-next-braves-firing-gm-081919724--mlb.html
Pirates clinch wildcard playoff spot. At 1.5 games back, can they catch the Cards for the division? One more against the Braves with three at the Reds while the Cards play the Cubs and closeout at the Diamondbacks.
Go Athletics. Although the way they have been playing since the all star break, I am not feeling real confident to say the least. KC is pitching Shields in the wild card game and the A's are starting Lester. In the old days, this would be a sub 2 hour game. I am sure TBS will stuff enough commercials in to make the game time run at least 3 hours.
What would really be awesome (although I admit this will never happen) is a KC-STL World Series, just so all the BS narratives go with the whole "Missouri Series" or whatever, then have KC absolutely CRUSH STL. Like a 4-0 sweep where the run differential is +30 in KCs favor or something. All the pretentious STL fans who "preach The Cardinal Way" would simultaneously have heart attacks as KC runs roughshod over "the best fans in baseball"...it would be glorious. Anyway, onto more realistic scenarios: I wouldn't mind a Freeway Series with the two LA teams. I really want to see Trout do well in the Postseason(although I have no idea where the starting pitching is going to come from besides Weaver). The Nationals are a legit threat. Wildcard Predictions:* OAK over KC I want KC to win but I just don't see KC beating Lester. That and Yost can fuck up anything. SF over PIT I want PIT to win but Volquez strikes fear into the hearts of absolutely no one. *Yeah, I know, a one-game playoff is more or less a coin flip. Humor me.
If KC keeps this lead into the 6th or 7th inning, Oakland is in trouble. The best thing KC has going for it the its bullpen.
So NATURALLY that moron Yost doesn't go to his GREAT relieving trio of Davis, Herrera and Holland...I really hope he gets drilled over that after the game. Like I said, Yost can fuck up anything.
That may be one of the most baffling moves I've ever seen in baseball. I've decided to call that "The Buck Showalter - when a manager mishandles in-game pitching decisions, usually by putting a pitcher into a role for which they have little to no experience, are ill-suited, and does it for no good reason, thereby blowing the game/series. See" Yankees 1995, Diamondbacks 1999)
Well, might as well see if my luck holds: Who I think will win: Nats in 5 Tigers in 4 Angels in 4 Dodgers in 4
The Baseball Gods have clearly singled me out for my hubris...I don't think I've ever gotten EVERYTHING wrong before....
You did very well on the most difficult, picking winners and wild cards for the regular season. Like all of us gamblers, you could not just pick up your winnings and go home. You had to go for it all. Good picking on the regular season. Now sit back and watch those damn Giants win it all again. As an A's fan, this is getting tough to take.
So...how 'bout them fucking Royals, huh? I already miss baseball and its been two goddamn days. I (once again) have no idea what I'm going to do during the offseason.
Congratulations Giants. I guess 3 World Series victories in 5 years qualifies as a dynasty. Damn that is a hard thing to admit. The A's are 20 to 1 to win it all in 2015, I guess it is time to run up to Reno and make my bet.
