He has 32 strikeouts already. Everything he is hitting is falling in and once the pitchers adjust I think you are going to see that average plummet. I would expect that type of strikeout total for a young power hitter but Jackson has none.

He has a BABIP of .492 and strikes out 34 percent of the time. That is a recipe for disaster.

That's the Verlander we all know and love. His last 3 April's have been pretty bad. Here's to hoping he turns '10 into another '09 and not another '08

Hi guys. Just wanted to stop in and rub getting swept by the Orioles into Red Sox fans' faces. Tee hee.

Disgusting. I'm taking a break from baseball this week. I'm way too fanatical about it and besides there's playoff hockey and basketball going on right now. With Wakefield back in the pen there's nothing compelling for me to cheer about.

Apparently I'm not alone in my sentiments either since for the first time I can remember seats at the park are actually selling for FACE VALUE! This is a welcome side effect of their suckage. No more $100 bleacher seats for awhile.

Big series coming up for Twins/Tigers.

Good thing for Tigers: Don't have to face Frank, and don't have to worry about Big Pink (Mauer).
Good thign for Twins: Don't have to face Verlander.

This should be a great series and I see it being pretty evenly matched. I think being at home will balance out the loss of Mauer and should be some great baseball. Hopefully we don't make D-Train look circa 2005 again.

How are the fans treating David Ortiz because he looks done.

I was at a game a week ago when he came in to pinch hit, he got a standing ovation and the crowd didn't stop cheering the whole time he was at bat...and of course he struck out. Fans are remarkably loyal to him as long as he hits a few bombs here and there, but with so many options in the lineup this year the coaching/management won't be as patient, especially if we keep sucking like we are now.

On opening day everyone cheered Ortiz. In the three games I've been to since most fans cheer him during his first at bat but that's about it. Unfortunately half the population of Fenway is filled with Pink Hat fans who think Jacoby Ellsbury is a starting pitcher and that Manny Ramirez is still on the team so they'll cheer for fucking strikeouts.

Apparently the Sox are doing ok tonight according to texts friends have sent. I refuse to lift my self imposed Red Sox blackout.

So far not so good. We started our usual comeback with three runs, but it was foiled for now in the bottom half. Sigh. If more than one of our starters would have a good game each time through the rotation we'd be doing a bit better.

I'm not sure in anyone saw this at the Phils game last night. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.ydr.com/ci_15014416" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ydr.com/ci_15014416</a>

Obviously all the radio shows are making a big deal about it, some people are saying it was "excessive."

The point is this, It was against the law and there is no telling what someone might do. If you remember in 2002 in Chicago when those two pieces of trash beat up a first base coach they made people a little afraid of what will happen when somebody runs on the field.

You know you are breaking the law when you do something like this. Do I enjoy watching it? Of course it's hilarious. I don't think that the cop should get in any trouble though.

My favorite part was the Phils players covering their mouths with their gloves to hide their laughter after the kid went down.

I don't think this was excessive at all. When you make the decision to run onto the field, you deserve whatever happens to you in the course of security trying to subdue you. And really, how is a Taser so much more violent and excessive than being gang-tackled by security guards, police and players? If this was some 30 year old guy, I doubt there would be anywhere near as much "controversy" surrounding the story. The fact that it's a 17 year old kid (something that nobody involved knew in the moment) is the only thing driving the coverage. Nobody knew who this guy was and what he was capable of and they chose the fastest and most non-violent way to stop him as they could.

I think it's hilarious too. Hopefully this doesn't lead to too many people being deterred from running on the field.

My favorite part is this picture. I just wish he grabbed his real gun by mistake.

Why don't we ask Monica Seles if she thinks it's excessive?

The Rays are taking the AL east anyways. If I were you I would just pray that the Rays actually can hold on. If not, it's going to New York. I don't think either of us want that. I could see NY getting the wild card though.

Yes, I know the Season is just starting. But still, I'm glad to see the Rays off to a great start.

The thing is crazy people like that will not be deterred by a tazer, a gun, or anything. A goofy kid running around on the field most likely did not need to get tazed. There was another moron who ran on the field last night and he was just escorted out. He was of course allot fatter so he may have been easier to catch.

Why does it have to be philly?

Do you follow baseball at all? It's pretty fucking clear the Rays and Yankees are both going to win at least 98 games this year. No one else in the AL will come close to challenging for the wild card spot. But since you're making such bold predictions like "I could see NY getting the wild card though", I'll join in. I could see Evan Longoria having a good year. I could see the Rays stealing a couple bases this year. I could see David Ortiz striking out a few times this year. Also, call me crazy, but I think that Tim Lincecum might have a good year.
