    Happy Sticky Buns Day!

You almost got an actual NSFW pic here until I spotted the skat stuff and noped out of that GIS

National Calendar Days has to say this:
    I present: sticky buns

    TGIF!

I've been busy today getting the yard and garden straight. The ducks are getting a new coop door, too.
@Misanthropic , how was garage night with the new lights?

When I have sticky buns, it usually results in a shower and some laundry.

There’s almost too many lights now. It’s getting so bright we need to increase the fog machine output. The new one works great by the way, as you can see. Or not.

I did hurt myself last night, blundering into the blade of an ATV snow plow amidst the lights and fog, and of course I hit the upper part of the plow right on the break location of my leg. Hurt like a mother. Then I walked home at midnight in 18 degree (F) with blowing snow.

    Another fantastic night.

    Try water-based next time.

I kinda forgot what a real winter looked like. Then I came to Buffalo for a gig. What a difference just 2.5 hours away. No thanks, I’ll take the milder variety.

Last night of next morning freedom so I'm celebrating/mourning with some Beam Black.

I know a lot of y'all aren't on social media but for the people that are, what are some pages you follow that are upbeat/positive and needed in these crazy times?
I follow a dude on IG named oldskoolkevmo He's fighting cancer and is a cook at a sorority. Seems like the nicest guy. Sort of a Bob Ross of cooking. #tossytoss #whatatreat

I follow a lot of “nostalgia” type pages both on Reddit and on Facebook.

On Reddit it’s r/nostalgia, r/childrenofthe80s, r/GenX, r/80s but also I enjoy r/AskReddit and that type of thing. Occasionally I’ll visit r/RoastMe for a good laugh.

As for Facebook I follow a lot of vintage toy collector groups, couple 80’s type groups and two or three funny meme pages ( one gets turned in regularly for inappropriate content so they always have a backup waiting in the wings ) I also I recently found a group simply called “Dinosaur” which the five year old in me enjoys. It’s just a bunch of dinosaur facts and pics.

Most of what I follow is nostalgic also. I don’t have a Reddit account but I like the pages Walt mentioned. On Facebook it’s typically pages devoted to the towns I grew up in, places I used to work or local special interests (e.g.,abandoned RR lines that I frequently hike on). Lately I’ve been watching 1970s TV shows on YouTube.

Trying to find something upbeat and positive that is current or forward looking is difficult. I’ve really limited my Facebook time over the last couple of months, but in recent years I’ve culled my “friends “, and kept mostly very close friends, family, or friends who post mostly positive stuff. One woman I graduated high school with posts mainly star gazing stuff or fun local info. Another “friend “ is a guy I barely know who was a year behind me in school, but he posts memes and observations that always make me chuckle or lol.

I generally get most of my social media via YouTube these days. That and Nebula.

I follow a fair number of cooking/smoking/bbq channels because how is that shit NOT motivational and happy content? I also enjoy things like Practical Engineering, Smarter Every Day, etc. I'm also hooked on the offroad recovery scene with Matt's Offroad, TrailMater, Fab Rats, Robby Layton. Engine stuff like Dave's Auto, Steve Morris Engines. And some racing stuff like Cleetus MacFarlane, F1, imsa, etc.

I'll browse Reddit/all for a bit in the day, get depressed, then hit up some of the specific subs that I enjoy; justrolledintotheshop, woodworking, fabrication, welding, formula1, imsaracing, germanshepherds, and one of the funniest "new" comedians I know, Jeff Arcuri.

I only have instagram in order to see the pics of my dog at daycare. Totally worth it.

I like watching street food videos on YouTube with my kiddo. We watched some Japanese food video recently that showed them cooking sky high Japanese pancakes. They are basically whipped egg whites with the other ingredients folded in. I haven't gotten mine to deny gravity like theirs yet. But we love watching the unusual, beautiful food being cooked and portioned on plates. It inspires. My kid wanted to know why they were cutting the food and not eating it at the end. It's so you, the viewer, can experience it as close to being there as possible, I explained. It's fascinating showing my little kid totally new thing and watch them watch it.

I’ve got a nice Sunday lined up. I’m brewing for the first time in a while. The wort for an Altbier is boiling right now. Once that’s done I’ll crack a good local beer and watch some spring training baseball, roast a chicken later for dinner, and make a batch of soap this evening. With the consumption of various beers scattered throughout the day. Really looking forward to it.

My Facebook is nearly all targeted ads and suggestions for pages I don’t give a fuck about. I’m sure I could clear the memory somehow but they make the app impossible to navigate the settings, knowing most people don’t use Facebook on their desktops anymore.

I’ve done this as well. Most recently I culled all of my current co-workers as well as some people from high school I have no meaningful connection to anymore.
I have a few people who are acquaintances at best, but like @Misanthropic said, they post entertaining stuff so they’re worth a follow.

I would say I use it to stay connected to family, and I guess to some degree I do, but there’s some I don’t give a damn about enough to see what they’re doing all the time. One of my cousins moved several states away further south and I had no idea until another family member told me yesterday.

People who post political shit all the time, including family like my brother, get unfollowed pretty fast.

A lot of it comes down to what you’ll allow in. Positive vibes for me, please.
