Happy Memorial Day Weekend to you. Pour one out for those who gave their life in armed service of their country. It's also... Happy national brother's Day! Is it your day? Do you have a brother? Share your favorite brother centric story. I have one brother. I didn't go to his wedding in November so I'm probably dead to him. All my stories about him are bitter so I'll keep it to myself. We are off on a family vacay starting tomorrow. Wish me luck! Disney, the San Diego zoo, and the Natural History Museum. We already have wheelchairs lined up. I will probably be able to weightbear in a week or two thankfully. I'm over all this. I get sweaty trying to accomplish anything in my house, my hands hurt, and I'm developing calluses on my palms. Happy weekend! Are you cooking out?
I think I’ve officially reached the age where going out means the mental countdown to when I’ll be back in my bed.
I have a younger brother. We have very different personalities, but we get along well. The only thing that drives me insane is him and his wife are child-free by choice, so obviously they have "fur babies."
Man, these latest WDT topics are like Debbie Downer layups for me! …because my brother’s dead. (It’s been 26 years, any lasting trauma is just now part of my personality)
Both my brothers are alcoholics. It’s a slow motion crash you can’t control. My older brother went from the ambitious successful one to flailing and hopeless. He refuses to leave his wife who is the cause of all his problems. I think he hopes she’ll cheat on him to give him reason to leave. Younger brother just never launched. He’s got some emotional issue he refuses to address. Only has had one temp job for six months since graduating college 10 years ago. Lives in the basement and goes to the bar every night. Just a huge mess no one ever told you how to deal with. In happier news I’m in Indianapolis trying to find reasonable tickets for the race. Not looking hot on scoring a deal though.
This week has been shit weather every single day since I can’t remember when. The sun is shining now, but it’s so wet and muddy out it’ll be days before the ground is dry. We had our son’s college graduation party yesterday. Since he didn’t get a party in 2020, we splurged and spent a little extra, having it at a local restaurant owned by another “retired” paramedic. It was a great spread, all appetizer type stuff including a huge thing of mozzarella sticks. Being a good host, I waited and let our guests go first. I went to the bar to get a drink and when I came back, the mozzarella sticks were completely fucking wiped out. I’ll pause here to mention that my wife’s brother has two sons who will take ridiculous amounts of food and be back in line before seconds before everyone is served. I watched one of them wipe out 12 pieces of pizza like it was nothing. So when I saw they actually came, I mentioned to her that they better not do that shit again. Don’t get me wrong, I go all out to be a good host and make sure guests enjoy themselves. But I also believe in etiquette. As it turns out the boys weren’t the culprits. Apparently it was a few adults from my family that loaded their plates like it was an endless buffet. We’re having a party for our 25th anniversary in October. It’s at a private club so I’d planned on an open bar for wine and beer. Not anymore.
Wife is visiting some of her family for the weekend. I went to the store for beer and steaks. I realized I forgot my wallet as I was walking in the store. I had enough pocket money for a six pack of IPA and hotdogs. So, yes. The answer is still yes.
If that's a side of meat, I don't wanna see a big meat. But also I want to eat that meat. Looking good!
We get rain all weekend. Gonna plant our garden. My BIL and his family are moving, and the SIL and niece stayed over in our town. So this morning before they got back on the road, we took our son over to the hotel pool. That was a blast.
I did some pressure washing and small shit around the house. Turns out I'm tired this weekend and am OK with dozing in and out on the couch.
I pressure washed the front of the house, and my Gargoyles, on Thursday. It's friggin cold this weekend. Me and the kid tried a jetski ride yesterday in the warmestpart of the day, but turned back after about 5 miles.
Has anyone on here ever sold a car on Ebay, or any other online site? Jungle Julia's dad just sold me his 1993 Chevy G20 van for a really low price, and I want to know what my options are. I've never sold a vehicle, only bought.
You seem like the epitome of ‘I know what I got.’ Seriously though Facebook marketplace is where people sell cars now. I’d rather do FTF with that than deal with an auction site.
I've used givemethevin.com several times with positive results. I sold both of my parents vehicles after they died and sold my truck to them as they gave me the best offer compared to every dealership I went to.
I have two brothers. One is just a few years older and full blood. The other is a little younger and a different dad. The younger one and I have a lot a similar traits and hobbies and therefore get along pretty well. My older brother and I went thru some shit growing up, became a little distant in our teenage years but have become super close in the last 10 years or so and I treasure my bond with him. We talk/text almost daily and he would be the main reason I'd have a hard time ever moving away. We're tight to the point that I feel sad for the people who don't have a sibling, or a sibling that's much different in age or just plain old don't jive with their siblings.
Posting it here instead of the Tech Thread just in case only the nerds read that section and I need real world tech idiot help/opinions. We're trying to cut the cord and do streaming only but is it really this fucking difficult? We have HBO/Max which also gives you Discovery but Naked and Afraid Last One Standing isn't there. Apparently there is a Discovery+ and a DiscoveryGO? One of which isn't included in the HBO/Max package? idk. Last week we finally figured out how to watch SNL but it didn't have the monologue or musical acts. We had to search for those separately on YT afterwards. Still haven't figured out how to watch Jeopardy. We're not huge TV watchers but there are few shows that we are religious about watching. Right now it seems like we have to always search for a show and then find it on some weird app I've never heard of that wants you to download an app in order to watch it.
