Happy fall all you idiots! I love where I live because as soon as the calendar reads a new season the weather starts to change drastically. We are enjoying cool mornings but are not letting that get us down today. We are caravanning to the lake right now to enjoy one last day in the Sun before it gets too nippy. The coolness in the air makes me want to bake bread and goodies. My farmers market season is complete but now I am looking forward to the Holiday markets. There is always something to do to prepare for a market event so I'll probably make some shit in the garage. Happy Friday! Be the one that brings donuts for the office. Then you can eat half the box and nobody can say anything.
It's Fall, huh? Tell me that when temperatures get below 90 degrees. I'm not looking forward to that time change, I can tell you that right now.
We've had major temp swings this summer... stupid hot to almost freezing and back... the only thing missing is rain, we're severely dry around here right now and a lot of trees are stressing out and dropping leaves way early as a result.
Fall is my favorite season, and we’re leaning hard into it- Oktoberfest last weekend, Oktoberfest at a friend’s house tomorrow, apple picking on Sunday, college football next weekend, etc. Apple picking for us involves an hour of picking, then several hours of a picnic lunch on a hill overlooking the orchard. Said lunch to be accompanied by a bottle of wine.
This has been the nicest September ever. Just gorgeous. And nothing but sun for the next week. Off topic, thank you algorithm:
My kid is riding around the lake in a full wetsuit, because of the water temp. He and I both got full wetsuits in the spring and, before it's over with, they will probably have added more than a month to our season. We would have already quit swimming and water sports by now, without them. We need rain so bad. Looks like we're supposed to get some starting tomorrow and through next week.
Yep. I’m getting ready to go spend 2 weeks at Long Point and Rondeau, part time off, part working remotely. It’ll be fantastic I think.
It’d be easier to enjoy Fall if it started acting like it. Christ, it was colder in August for a stretch and they’re saying a high of 80 for Sunday. We did get a couple days of rain finally, which means it’s muggy and wet here at the house because the house and yard don’t get as much sunlight.. Like @Nettdata mentioned, it’s been unusually dry here in our part of NY and the leaves are turning but also just drying up and falling off early. I love seasonal foods, especially pumpkin products - bread, donuts, cookies, etc., but Im in a weight loss program and have really cut back on drinking. I’m still sneaking a seasonal beer in here and there once in a while. We have what is arguably the best pumpkin ale known to man that’s brewed five miles from here and I look forward to it every year. I ain’t missing out on that.
Pumpkin coffee is yucky. It tastes a homeless guys diarrhea mixed with Sanka. Pumpkin cheesecake on the other hand is baller.
I love fall, mostly. The weather here has been nice for the area I live in since August. Mostly high 70's to mid 80's, which is below average for August especially. However, Helene really screwed up things here last year around this time. And it looks like we may be dealing with another storm come Monday. Shouldn't be nearly as bad (last year was an abberation), but blech.
I'm just wondering why you know what something as disgusting and foul as Sanka tastes like in the first place.
I never I said I liked fall. Fall's only redeeming qualities are beautiful leaves, and that it's not yet winter. One properly timed hurricane of sufficient strength can blow all the leaves off early, so we don't even get great color every year.
Summer is easily my favourite season, but fall would be if it just stayed the way it was right now. Our falls usually are super rainy and grim starting in early October, right up until it snows. We just seem to have shitty autumns around here— until now, which has been postcard-perfect so far year.
I have lemon bars in the oven. I better get busy either baking or selling the eggs, because the new layers are getting into the swing of things and I collected 8 eggs this morning as well as yesterday. The weather is cool and bright. The sleeping bags are out on the hammock. It is absolute bliss outside.
