Happy Halloween! My kid is already dressed up.... What are your plans tonight? Are you handing out candy or drinking sangria in the dark in the porch? @Crown Royal, let's see it. You know, your giant Halloweener display. I painted a pumpkin with flowers and set it on the porch. Fall decor, done. Happy Friday! Careful with all the kids and weirdos cruising around town. It gets dark early now.
We're checking out of Halloween this year. A few of us in the neighbourhood are going out for dinner. Last few years we tried doing something and all we got were a bunch of older kids (late teenagers) come by and just try to load up. As a result we're all uber-ing to a restaurant to just not deal with it at all.
And while I didn’t dress up, my dog did. She rebelled against the Cone Of Shame and went as a sunflower.
Halloween is just another night here at our house. I’m not a big fan of it to begin with and now that the boys are grown I don’t have to partake. We haven’t had a kid come to our house in years so we stopped buying candy years ago. Well, we buy candy but we don’t put it out or leave the porch light on.
We participate in trunk or treat on main street and then trick or treating in our neighborhood with the kids next door. We had 2 kids move in a couple months ago and its a totally new dynamic in the house with instant friends next door.
We went out for an early dinner, and were gone about an hour. I left a bowl of candy on the porch, hoping kids would be reasonable but fully expecting all of the candy to be gone. They did one better, took all of the candy, and the freaking bowl as well. Only 5 kids since we’ve been home. With fewer kids every year it’s almost not worth bothering.
Oh man... I think I got a wee bit hammered tonight. Went to a great Italian place... completely empty due to the game and halloween... so was in for some drinking. Wanted to do a flight of red wine to try some new stuff, and they were out of one of them so they couldn't do the flight. So I said "fuck it" and started going through their cocktail menu. It was the end of the summer menu, so tons of citrissy and tropical drinks. I HAD THEM ALL. And some killer seafood linguine. I'm going to feel it in the morning.
At the last house, I'd buy one good sized bag of candy and maybe pass out 1-2 handfuls. That same sized bag lasted for about 45 mins last night. Definitely more kids here. Knowing that we'll actually get some trick-or-treaters next year is going to make Halloween fun. Our house has a fully gated entryway that will be great for some decorations, fog machine, lights etc.
Having a kid makes Halloween more fun. Nothing crazy, little NatCH was one of the characters from Disney’s Spidey cartoons. Went to a few events this week, so he learned how to say “trick or treat,” “happy Halloween,” and to say thank you. Which we now are reenacting every hour or so with his candy haul.
The preschooler came home sick from school yesterday and the baby is too small to care, so Halloween was a bit of a bust. I am consistently amused by the 13 year olds who feel they need to announce their sexuality because of our rainbow flag, though. There was a group last night that rattled off one at a time while they rifled through the candy bowl “I’m gay!” “Me too!” “I’m just a little gay” ”I’m straight.” lol ok guys, happy Halloween!
