Virginia Supreme Court struck down Virginia's counter-gerrymander, 4-3. I read the opinion, and it's decidedly unconvincing.
Watching the Supreme Court actively put their thumb on the scale for the gop to help them win the midterms has been something to behold. I expect very little from them as far as ideological consistency or sticking to actual principles. But for them to pull out all the stops to help them and at the same time clutch their pearls at the well deserved criticism of their behavior is just too much sometimes. There’s no way they couldn’t foresee the southern states go full Jim Crow minutes after their decision.
Now, I'm not saying I want something to happen during Trump's bullshit UFC event on the White House lawn during his birthday that he's shilling out tickets to ither sleazy POS like him. I'm just hypothetically saying something COULD happen and it would make the world a significantly better place all around.
It really is impressive how, when I read court decisions written by Republican-appointed justices (either at SCOTUS or a lower/state level), I can spot the egregiously wrong logic/reading of law/summation of the facts within 5 minutes in like 90% of cases.
