They were fans of Misfits and Judas Priest. He liked the Isley Brothers and Etta James. They couldn’t have been more far apart.
I like how Metallica's wikipedia page has a "Feuds" section, and most of them are just with former bandmembers. Also "bass, backing vocals" is like the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor of Metallica.
I remember Sammy Hagar did an hour long interview with Trujillo on his "road trip" series, and it was amazing. I never new much about him before that, and what I saw really impressed the shit out of me. I went into it indifferent, and came out of it a fan.
Just pondering the irony of the thread title, My left leg has been knackered since Easter so I've been hopping ever since.
The scene in their documentary when he auditions for them and they turn around give him $1 million on the spot is pretty wild.
41 and a twisted ankle in February is still nagging me. My body does not heal like it used to. I saw a superbike race crash video and apparently they have airbag suits that deploy when they sense a crash happening. Need to market those to old people.
I saw that video clip too. Watched him slide on the ground waiting for the airbag to deploy, didn’t see it. wtf? Slow motion replay showed it going off and expanding when his ass wasn’t even 2” off the seat, heading for a high side ride. Then I thought WTF!?!? Pretty fucking cool tech.
Reminds me of the new table saws that you can’t cut yourself on. They basically sense flesh when touched and close out in an instant, faster than the 4000 rpm blade can cut into you.
They're called Saw Stop, and I have one. They can fuck up sometimes, but they do a great job of saving your fingers.
Check back in a bit when you're holding the dinner menu just a bit further away and and just a bit closer to the candle on the table. Should be in a year or two from now...
This. You first hit 40 and think, "what the fuck was everyone going on about?" Then somewhere between 40 & 45 most wake up in pain, take 15 minutes just get out if bed and realize "oh, fuck...that's what they meant"
I watched a jujitsu match this morning and was 10/10 impressed with how fluid and bouncy the dude in white was. He kinda hopped backwards to get into position and I'm feeling it in my body just thinking about it. Neck, back, shoulder and my crack. Sorry, wrong song. Neck, back, ankle and boobs. https://youtu.be/9VhHuMtdV38?si=-9IRhcwQhqpHw66Q
I read that humans go through rapid aging twice in their lives, in their 40s and in their 60s. On average at ages 44 and 60. I hear people talk about feeling like they are falling apart around 40... Weight gain in their gut, jowels form, the skin on the back of their hands thin a little, they bruise more easily. It makes me feel slightly better that it IS part of aging. You should take good care of your body, eat well, and rest, but you can't fight it by being perfect. I look a lot different than at 25 and that's ok. I'm not 25 any more. Aging is a privilege.
