To add on what @bewildered posted. A MEU is about 2200 Marines with only a single Marine Infantry battalion with ~600 Marines. The remaining 1600 are artillery, maintainers, aircrew, supply, communications, etc. There's another MEU and what looks to be a Brigade Combat Team (BCT) from the 82nd Airborne Division headed there as well. Based on the amount of actual infantry soldiers/Marines and the kind of equipment these units have, they could conduct raids, but have nowhere the manpower or logistical tail to take and hold any significant amount of contested territory. Especially on the mainland. There's media speculation they're tasked to take Kharg Island. You could raid the island with a MEU, and depending on what defenses Iran has placed on the island you could take Kharg Island with a MEU, but holding the island long term is problematic. To do so would likely subject those units to defending against a siege. For those not familiar with Kharg Island. It's only about 15.5 miles from the coast of mainland Iran. Well within the range of artillery and air defenses on the mainland. Those reasons will make resupply problematic. It's also almost due east of Kuwait City, so any shipborne reinforcements/resupply must transit the Strait of Hormuz and then sail the length of the Persian Gulf. Aerial resupply would be vulnerable to Iranian air defenses on the mainland. Qeshm Island off Iran's southern coast (pretty mush in the Strait) has also been reported as a possibility. Its not an oil production node, but historically where Iran stores cruise missiles, mines, etc., to stage attacks from against ships transiting the straight. It is also close enough to the mainland its within mainland artillery and air defense ranges. A third option media has talked about are raids against nuclear sites. These sites are all deep in Iranian territory. It's possible, but what's the risk vs reward? Especially since all these sites have been struck by airstrikes.
lol Just saw a great joke... What's the difference between the wars in Viet Nam and Iran? Spoiler Trump had a plan to get out of Viet Nam.
Living in the age of Trump is really defined by the countless number of petty insults you have to endure, originating from some of this country's worst people. Today's insult that I have learned about is that Trump put his own fucking face on the America the Beautiful pass, which grants access to US National Parks, in violation of federal law. When the idea of covering his face up with stickers gained popularity (because people who enjoy nature are pretty disproportionately against a man and a political party hellbent on destroying it), the Department of the Interior issued new guidance that such stickers would void the pass. To add insult to insult, he changed the days on which National Parks are free to access, including removing MLK Jr Day and Juneteenth, and adding his own fucking birthday.
TDS much? listen, he’s president. I’m sure that any president doing this would be met with complete and total acceptance, and not at all with any sort of anger or even annoyance.
Just a few fucking inches and we wouldn't fucking be here. Stupid fucking kid. Lets just hope someone competent comes around.
You know on that day, in that moment, I would have strongly disagreed with you. Now? Not so much. The problem is, it’d turn him into a fucking martyr for the Red Hats
I've said it before, but we really missed an opportunity when he survived COVID. Him dying of his own stupidity after downplaying the disease really would have taken all the wind out of any potential martyr sails.
Just dumpster a payload of material of him raping kids and and sucking Putin's dick. We KNOW the feds have that dirt. Do everything to make him look exactly as fucking pathetic as he is. Same with his death, have him get killed in some pathetic looking way with zero dignity.
I just can't wait for the next President to just unwind all the shit he can to try and course correct. At least we know there won't be a Trump Presidential Library. And no, it's not because he can't read, it's because they'd have to pay for it themselves, so there's no fucking way they'd spend the money.
He already stole the money: https://www.warren.senate.gov/newsr...ump-settlements-to-now-dissolved-library-fund
Speak of the devil: https://bsky.app/profile/atrupar.com/post/3micvu7zlzs2q Apparently the Presidential Library is going to be a Miami skyscraper housing his 747-sized bribe, and a replica of the White House.
The irony being that it can all be undone with the stroke of a pen since none of it went through Congress. The impacts notwithstanding. Now he's threatening to blow up desalinization plants in Iran. Weird, I thought the talks were going well? Anywho, Iran doesn't heavily rely on desalinization plants. But other Gulf states do, you know, the ones Trump is asking to help out... Cap the presidential age at 65 by Inauguration Day. 35 to 65 is enough of a window. Cap the voting age while we're at it.
Not only is he threatening to do it, he's threatening to do it as some kind of going-away present. Like he's rage quitting the war, and him destroying the plants is his smashing-the-controller moment. His exact words were: So basically just "we're gonna smash shit up on our way out, cause you guys are being mean."
In Trump’s mind, he posted this, so he already had a presidential library. And it’s amazing. So he can just start having money put toward the library, which is the greatest library ever. You can see how great it is in this video, and also by how much money he has for it. Trump’s reality is like a multiverse, really.
