Neil Sedaka https://www.nbcnews.com/news/obituaries/neil-sedaka-songwriter-dies-86-rcna261065 “Love Will Keep Us Together” is a fucking MASTERCLASS of Pop songwriting.
My parents were firmly in the Neil Sedaka generation, and in the 70s and maybe 80s he was all over pop radio. I think he was also involved in early American Idol as one of the guest artists - known for the quote “That was ear delicious!”. I know too much about Neil Sedaka.
Just saw this one, author Dan Simmons https://arstechnica.com/culture/2026/02/hyperion-author-dan-simmons-dies-from-stroke-at-77/ I have not read any of the Hyperion series, but he did write The Terror, which was a great book, and the miniseries was equally great even as it reworked some of the story to better fit TV. It’s one of the rare instances where both stories hold their own.
The Ayatollah (?) According to crying Iranian reporters, he died in the past 24 hours. As if the shit wasn’t hitting the palm fronds hard enough there.
