With the stones being pulled on different teams, it sounds like Sweden fucked up an unspoken no-call rule. But also, that Canadian guy is a dick.

In a first of my life, I had to call DCFS on a family. My security camera went off last night at around 11pm. The 2 adults were stumbling home on foot with no kids in sight. They opened the front door and was greated by oldest. No idea what was said as they speak spanish and I don't. You can't leave children by themselves...period...hard stop. Background 2 adults and 3 children (baby, toddler, and young school aged) recently moved into a house across the street from me that had been condemned about 5 years ago. Some shit bag LLC out of Norfolk VA owns it, has done nothing in repairs, yet somehow convinced these people to pay the LLC for bond for deed. I reported the house to the city when a group of people started working on it and the city issued a stop work order. Well that didn't matter to these people. They got the power and water turned on and moved this family in. This is a one bedroom house. When the guy that died in the house was still living, I had been inside several times. Tore up and gross are good adjectives to describe it. I have seen no sign of heat this winter (no exhaust coming from a chimney or duct) and they have been there about 3 months and no trash has ever been put out for pickup (not that the city would pick it up) so I can only imagine what the backyard is filling up with. I just don't understand how a city that is ripe with ordinances and such just completely ignores them. Why have them on the books in the first place. The only people that are following them are law abiding citizens anyway. The ordinance for a occupany violation is between $75 and $750 per day based on a judges decision and the same fine goes towards the owner as well. Last time the city even gave me any additional information about the situation, I was told that it requires a police officer to issue the fine and after the first day, they just don't bother to answer the door so they can't fine them again. Here's an idea, why have the fucking ordinance then? They have attempted to find the LLC's registered owner, but all mail is returned to sender. I am the official grumpy old man of my street. This is a dead end road that has 35 houses on it. Of those 35, 18 are owner occupied. LLCs should be banned from being able to own residential property. It just makes it entirely too easy to hide behind the LLC
One of my wife's goddaughters with a <1 year old baby is probably moving into our house because she's in a bad spot. Dealing with verbal and financial abuse. Possibly physical, I don’t know, if she is getting hit, it's not obvious. She and the baby's father live in the basement of his parents house, and those people fucking suck, too. If there is nothing else you teach your own children, teach them that the most important decision they ever make will be which person they have kids with. Drill it into their fucking head, from as early as possible. Teach them to recognize losers, and get the fuck away from them immediately, before the consequences. I'm not saying that living in his parents basement as a young man is what makes him a loser. It's the holding her back, keeping her under thumb and not being any closer than a year ago to providing her and his child a home with windows is what makes him a loser. The whole situation is reminding me of my stepsister in 2006. She was stabbed to death on her mother's porch, days after taking her baby away from remarkably similar situation.
What makes it even sadder, when I called DCFS the social worker who answered was having computer problems, so was asking the relevent questions from memory and was going to go back and fill the form out after she got her computer working. Those questions I would never want to have memorized. I can't imagine having to report an issue when you have actual information. I don't know these people, don't know their names, where they are from, what dirt floor they slept on before this house, etc. They probably think it is great. The LLC paid $2500 for this property. It would cost more to demo it. I just don't understand why you would spend the money to purchase it. I don't know the gain, but again, I am not in a situation where I would be looking for something like that either.
I can't imagine. I don't have what it takes to do that work. I don't have the patience, or self control. Here's a little sad addition to mine. If the girl and baby move in, and if the father ever shows up for a visit or anything, I'm doing a full pat down weapons check. Every. Time. He shows. Up. I don't know the guy, what I do know I can't stand. Stepsister's shitty husband showed up to get pictures of their son. He stabbed her multiple times, there on the porch, until the blade broke off. Then he backed away and looked at her mother, and told her he hoped she died.
