RAVE: I now have a huge Pine Forest scented candle to help mask the smell of the dead mice in the vents/walls of my office. RANT: It's an additive smell, not a masking smell, so I now have the Pine Forest of Death scent permeating my office.
Rant: I fucking hate living here three months out of the year. We’re nearly through the first and I’m ready to move south. I’m tired of being cold.
RAVE: My son turned 10 at the beginning of the month. His gift was an Offspring concert with Bad Religion as an opener. It was fucking amazing, not my genre of music but man that was a great show. RANT: As of everything where i live it was a 700km/500mile one way drive in winter.
Rant: Third weekend in a row with snow/ice in the forecast. I live in South Carolina and have seen snow maybe 15 times in my life. This is absurd. I know some of y'all deal with it, but single digit wind chills are not OK this far south.
Rant: Same here. We're supposed to get 6-10" of snow. My yard is still solid sheet of ice from the last storm. I was supposed to go to Kannapolis to work on the racecar, but that probably isn't going to happen. It means the first time I even see the car will be the evening it gets unloaded at Road Atlanta for the first race. Rave: As of now, forecast for race weekend looks amazing. Highs around 50, and lots of sun. I don't think it's been that nice since before new years day.
Rave: Skied at Stratton yesterday. Great conditions, cold as hell. When we got on the chairlift, it was -11F. Rant: Frostnip on my thumb. Very odd sensation.
Rant of sorts: Not only did I recently stop playing in the band after twenty years, a couple of weeks ago I also shut down a locally-oriented news website I've owned and run after fourteen years. It was a passion project that I truly believed in for so long and spent countless hours working on ( one very conservative estimate equaled out to about 2 full years' worth of time ) and thousands of dollars on. But interest simply wasn't there anymore, not even with the most active users, and I pulled the plug. When I started the idea was to be a more intelligent alternative to social media, namely Facebook, and I figured I just needed to outlast them. The problem became local agencies releasing information on there before sending out to local media. So by the time I put it on the site, it was already old news, shared countless times on Facebook. And then a couple locally oriented groups popped up on Facebook that were more gossip rags where the local mouth breathers congregate to enjoy and feed into the drama. The one is owned by a guy who takes others's posts, and reposts them under hs own account or posts intentionally inflammatory topics in order to get higher activity rates and make money off of it. You just can't compete with that shit, so I stopped trying. So now here I am, trying to figure out what to do with my time now that it's not taken up with those endeavors. I recently revamped my "author" website and plan to write more for that, but I can only do that so much as well. I guess I'm in a phase where such a large part of my identity is gone and I'm trying to figure out what's next and it's frustrating somedays. What I really need is for need Spring to get here. Then I'll have things to do.
RANT: As of most my rants they are work related. I had to go for a walk before before i strangled my manager. Manager: We should do this process like our other terminal. Me: Ok, how does it work? Manager: I don't know.
