It's interesting to see the population burn down the mosques of the old school. Sounds like the people are getting sick of the extremist regime and want change. I don't have anything against the Iranian people... I know and work with a few, and they are great. It's their country's leadership that is fucked up. Very much like the US right now... I know quite a few good Americans, but their national leadership is fucked.
The Epstein Files are pretty wild. Also funny that some hackers found vulnerabilities in the redaction method and are working to interact them (ostensibly). Probably pretty dry for most people, but kind of cool: https://neosmart.net/blog/recreating-epstein-pdfs-from-raw-encoded-attachments/
I like the theory that the redactions are shit because DOGE canceled the Feds' Adobe Acrobat contract a few months back.
And some of them doing the redacting were too technically stupid to understand how it actually worked.
You see some instances of the word "don't" have been redacted because they just did a search for "Don T"?
The emails look generally look like shit because of recovery software most likely. 1s and 0s get corrupted, and text usually shows those tiny corruptions more than anything else. OCR scanners also do that with their encoding. In terms of the redactions, Adobe has also had some shit vulnerabilities for a while. I wonder what DOJ brainiac was in charge of such a menial task that they fucked up?
This is an interesting “churn” moment, in a way. It’s like, remember when the Sandusky scandal happened at PSU, and JoePa’s reputation took a hit? All my PA friends really had to figure out how they were gonna square the fact that, while JoePa probably didn’t do anything, he most definitely knew and kept his mouth shut because fucking up the football program in any way was an uncomfortable thought. Now it’s like, everybody knows that everybody knew, and everybody’s uncomfortable.
It's funny that somehow Americans thought the Epstein files contained a smoking gun against Trump, as if the reason it wasn't widely believed he is a pedophile and a rapist was a lack of evidence. "Once we show them the files, that'll convince em!" Yay, now the internet is full of alt-right, Nazi pedophile apologists. Jesus Christ. The rest of the world seeing people implicated is interesting, because it may end up being like the Panama papers, where no one with a certain level of money/clout is held accountable. It seems like it caused a stir in some places, but...until there's some more dead billionaires, it just feels like...noise? The wildest part of this scandal is that it took literally years and an act of Congress. The folks who stand to be hurt by this the most benefit from the delay as part of the obfuscation. It also feels a bit like the dynamic between the Bush family and the Bin Ladens throughout the 80's and 90's...that is a very insular and small circle, and it still blows my mind that it's not more commonly understood that those two families had ongoing relations for decades prior to 9/11. The inner workings of power feel incestuous because they are, especially if you paint one set of them as evil. It feels like associating with Epstein gets you convicted in the court of public opinion, when the reality is going to be far more complex than that. It's not a good look for someone like Noam Chomsky or Bill Clinton, but...Epstein was a money man, and not all of his connections had to do with pedophilia. Glad he's dead, now if we could get a few more dead billionaire rapists, that'd make my Friday.
