All fuel breaks down, full stop. It separates out into various components that don’t burn like they do when combined. I was using fuel stabilizer long before ethanol gas existed.
Just looked around and they recommend adding it to fresh fuel if it will sit for longer than 30 days. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Interesting. I’ve never in my life used fuel stabilizer and have only had a problem once or twice when I let the gas sit in my lawnmower over the winter. I keep a spare 5 gallons in my garage that I rotate out once a year, haven’t had issues with that either. I also have a Cub Cadet snowblower, and I absolutely do not need to drain it after every use. It can sit unused for a month or two and be fine. Every spring I run it dry then put it away. Maybe gasoline is one of the few things I’m lucky with? Time to make some Malatov cocktails.
I had problems around the time that Canada made the switch to ethanol blended gasolines, and the equipment I had wasn't built to handle it. At that point I just stopped wanting to deal with issues so bought some big containers of stabilizer and have used it ever since. With no issues. I also use a number of Amsoil fuel additives in all my vehicles and small engines.
I'm far enough north that we're just getting the Snowpocalypse, no ice here. Estimates are anywhere between 10" to 18" over the next 36 hours. So I spent the day smoking 3 racks of ribs, and a couple dozen wings to have provisions for the next couple of days. Also swung over to the local brewery and dispensary to stock up on THOSE provisions as well. Gonna spend the next 48-72 hours getting fat and sassy. @Nettdata I used the thermal jacket on the Yoder for the first time today, and it's shocking how much that helps with pellet usage.
I know, right? Worth every penny, imo. I have zero issues or qualms smoking meat in sub-zero weather.
Only complaint I had was that I didn't realize you couldn't use the 3rd piece if you also had the grease shield on, but I just used the top & back covers only and it still worked out great.
Yeah, I find that I'm not too worried about the grease shield in the winter, so I just put it in the shed. Like you said, it sucks, but I find that it's still worth it. I also like how you can maintain high temps in super cold outside weather. It really makes the smoker a normal option to cook with during the winter. More easy to cook with than my normal gas BBQ, actually.
-And in more first world problem news, it’s so cold that the lid of my big green egg is freezing closed and I can’t open it.
We got around 2" of snow before it switched to freezing rain. Now it's a steady, fast freezing rain, but the droplets are pretty small. The scary part is here, and there is already nice layer of ice on top of the snow and things like side car windows. I know that because this white dog decided it would a fine day for a walkabout. His name is Enzo, and will be the pet I'm talking about now that gus is gone. We have a 4' fence, but he can just leap over it like it's nothing. This mutt swam across the lake in this nonsense and I had to go get him in the other neighborhood. Worst part was getting dressed and scraping the windows. The roads weren't too slick because of the snow beneath the ice. The new version of the FI collar, series 3 or whatever, works much better than the last one, if anyone was thinking about them.
We're already at about a foot here with another 4"-6" expected throughout the day. I have no plans on leaving for the foreseeable future, but was at least lucky enough to borrow my neighbors blower before it got so high that it wouldn't even work.
Yep... there's a stew on the stove, coffee and bailey's, and watching the end of the Rolex 24hrs of Daytona, all while the snow piles up outside.
As entertaining as they often turn out, I find it puzzling that there are a LOT of videos on the internet that show people attacking cars as if they are punching and kicking the person inside the car. You guys are not fighting a person, you’re fighting a car. And you can’t fight a car. How does the term “hundreds in horsepower” not even serve as deterrent just on its own it these situations? Of course, 95% of the time the video ends with them all knocked everywhere like bowling pins with the various shouts of “DAMN FAM THESE FOOLS BE TRIPPIN’!!!”
Donut Operator has the occasional episode where he features cops yeeting fleeing suspects with their patrol cars. It's hilarious. Turns out he has a whole man vs car playlist. lol
I honestly think that bonus round plays into the actions of these idiots to this day. I’ve built cars before— you’re not wrecking one with your bare hands. One day one of these videos of dummies hitting automobiles will involve something like a 1940’s Ford and then you’ll see a REAL mess— like, European air show-style shit.
