From what I understand, a lot of these cartels are basically well-armed militias themselves. I think people assume it’s just a bunch of street-style gangsters, but there’s a reason the cartels successfully run entire chunks of Mexico. The Mexican military doesn’t fight them for a reason. Like every other half-baked piece of shit idea these people have, it probably won’t work as intended. As Juice mentioned earlier when they grabbed Maduro, it was a stupid fucking idea that wasn’t well thought out. Now Trump is embarrassed because the oil companies aren’t jumping for joy and sending their employees immediately to be attacked and probably killed by various rebel groups and militias. His understanding of anything is laughable.
I like how his argument is that his illegal fuckup was so huge it would be disastrous to attempt to fix it.
You would basically need to hit them with predator drones or set the Tier 1 units loose. The current suspicion is the current President of Mexico is league with the cartels (actual suspicion, not Trump Admin suspicion).
The reports of them spending INSANE amounts of money to acquire the highest levels of tech, and how they take world class technicians hostage to set it all up for them, is just mind boggling. I have to think that if they are sufficiently motivated, they will be able to accomplish anything that they put their mind to. They are not just a militia, they have the potential/capability of being a high end mercenary force, with zero fucking morals or scruples. I can easily think of a thousand scenarios where they completely obliterate the executive branch. Cargo plane full of explosives crashed into the Mar-A-Lago golf course or compound at the right time? The Ukrainians showed how fucking easy it is to do DIY drone work on a full sized aircraft, so throw cartel money at it, and well, you've got a slam dunk. Yer Fucked, Jerry! Now. coordinate and do that to his entire senior staff all at the same time? Not hard. The cartel's are fucking smart, and they have more money than Trump ever will. It's like a John Wick or Jack Ryan or Grey Man scenario that could very well happen, IMO. And that's just buzzed me throwing out simple shit... never mind the smart fuckers coming up with plans.
Dammit, and here I was, jealous that Mehico had a scientist leading the country. An intellectual in charge, instead of, with an exception or two, the shit for brains career politicians we've had my entire life.

That's exactly what I would tell people had I done so. Now that the midterms are in view, Trump is going to do is favorite thing in the world for the next 9 months, which is throw rallies for himself and pretend it's for Republicans. Maybe that will give us a break from the 4-D chess governance. Wouldn't be surprised if Trump attempts a sudden, enlightened outreach to Democrats to pad his midterm impact.
Theres nothing he loves more than hearing himself talk. Mathematically, the GOP should have a massive advantage in this election based on retirements, redistricting, etc. If they lose, it will be his fault. Then again, that actually requires the Democratic Party to be somewhat functional.
