Not looking forward to the rest of the week.

We got a fair bit of snow and -10* weather for the last week or so, and now we're thawing out and raining, and then back to freezing.

Sure glad I work from home and don't have to go anywhere for a while.

I hate the freeze thaw freeze thaw bullshit.

And as much as I don't have to go anywhere, I just realized that yes, I do... I have to take the dog to daycare every day.

Good day to take the truck as it's a beast in shitty roads, and with all the moronic drivers out there I don't give a shit if someone hits me. It's a fucking tank.

I would allow my dog to skip school if the roads were a sheet of ice.

It's more that she sits in my office looking at me and making noise to go out and play in the snow, which makes working hard.

If it's bad then sure, she can stay home, but it helps me greatly when she gets to Camp on a workday.

Apparently I agreed to accompany my brother to a concert tonight. While hanging out on Thanksgiving, he asked if I wanted to join him. Good Time GTE thought that seeing Cattle Decapitation on a Thursday night was a wise idea. Responsible GTE does not remember making that plan and is now not looking forward to Friday work.

Unfortunately old an boss drilled into me that if it's self inflicted, you gotta show up. And I have never called in sick due to being hungover. A few times I should've called in but not because I was hungover, but because I was still drunk.

The sickness I do have is that I hate missing work and feeling like I let my team down. For example, today I needed to get some blood drawn for my annual physical next month. I get to work around 7:15am and my appointment was at 8:10am (10 mins from work). Most normal people would just go in after their appt but I'm sick in the head. I got to work early, worked until 7:50, went to my appt and went back to work. Most people didn't even know I left. A few people at my job would've taken the whole day off. I call them "pussies"

Definitely not. The last time I got in one was 8 years ago when I was still in my 30s. Sprained an ankle and I've been on the sidelines ever since.

I hate missing work because I'm always afraid that someone is going to fuck with one of my projects/ jobs. It's happened before, where the boss assigns someone to finish one of my jobs to get it out the door, and they fuck it up. Then, not only do I STILL have to finish the job, but I have to fix what they screwed up.

Now, if EVERYONE is going to be gone (holiday), then hell yes, I'm down to miss some work.

Well, today is the start of some xmas time off, and it's glorious.

Thought I'd share one of my favourite YouTube cooking channels, Chris Young, seeing as it's that time of year when a lot of people do a lot of cooking.

This guy has a hell of a pedigree... for 5 years he worked at the Fat Duck, a famous 3 Michelin Star restaurant, and he also led the Modernist Cuisine project, which is an amazing set of cookbooks.

His channel is incredibly well produced, and he introduces the science and technique behind cooking in a very captivating way.

For instance, today's episode is on how to make chicken broth.

    Well that's simple, right?

    Right?

I'm a fan of Chef Jean Pierre's channel. He's a bit eccentric and likes to wiggle his fingers in a way that is somehow french-accented, but it's an easy watch and the recipes are solid.

Yeah. He promotes a few of his products, like his temp probe and the turbo sous vide, but more power to him.

I’ve been close to pulling the trigger on them a few times.
