When they nationalized their petrochemical industry, they took/ kept a bunch of US companies' drilling/ refining equipment.

By all means, let’s make more poor decisions over oil.

So are we starting a pool on what exactly his Trumpiness will tell us tonight? War with Venezuela? He’s the healthiest president ever? Affordability is a hoax?

He’s going to sign an Exec Order declaring Reiner’s films WMD’s.

I don't think his Orangnish understood how well loved Rob Reiner was. I listen to a conservative leaning talk show on the morning drive and when I go to lunch or head home there are other right wing hacks like Glenn Beck, Hannity etc on that station and they ALL have called bullshit on Trump's comments instead of sucking his cheeto like usual.

I think for the hyper-political folks, Reiner is sorted into the "anti-Trump" bucket, but for the majority of the population, he's the actor who was on All in the Family, and the director who made a string of absolute bangers in the 80s/90s that included Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, and A Few Good Men.

I think it was mostly because he was just a super nice guy that everyone loved.

I was living in Gibsons, BC, when Needful Things was filmed there by his production company. I was an extra in the movie. He showed up one day and was more than happy to sign my Needful Things book for me. Somewhere in my bookshelves I have a book with Max Von Sidow and Rob Reiner's signatures in it.

So I don't know if he just straight up forgot to mention Venezuela, or he really scheduled a national address just because he felt like he wasn't getting enough attention, but there was no actual announcement in that address. Just a live-action version of his truth social posts.

Please, declaring war is SOOOO Twentieth Century. These days, all the cool despots conduct "special military operations" or "peacekeeping missions."

Besides, if you officially declare war, aren't you kicked out of the UN, or something like that?

Anyway, is the announcement/ speech/ rambling worth a watch?

EDIT: I just watched a few minutes of that, uh, "speech," and Jesus H. Christ, was he worked up.
I thought I had left the playback speed at +1.5.
Zero doubt in my mind that he's on dope of some kind.

Trump's media company, which lost $400 million last year, is merging with a ::checks notes:: fusion power startup. The only reason given why a fusion power company would want to do that is that Trump's media company has "access to significant capital." Total corruption, right in the open.

Does anyone else think the warrior dividend is just an attempt to buy the loyalty of our military? That's the only way it makes any sense to me.

    Of course.

And it's being taken out of the already existing military housing budget, not from external funds, like tariffs.

Yeah, this is money that they were going to get, anyway, only now it's in a taxable form.

Of course, we'll have to wait and see if they get anything, because as I mentioned a few posts above, I'm still waiting on my $5,000 DOGE check.
