Oh yeah no doubt. They all know to call me if they want to just hang out and play some music in a living room somewhere. That doesn’t require hours long drives one way.
We had a really nice Thanksgiving week in the Misanthropic household. The kid was home from college, we got together with a whole bunch of family and friends, and did some Christmasy things that weekend. However, seeing a bunch of family has had its downside. My cousins house turned out to be ground zero for a flu outbreak. Most of us who went came down with the flu of varying severity, including me, my wife and daughter, two elderly aunts and multiple cousins. I feel like I’ve essentially lost a week of my life. I was in and out of lucidity for several days, I’m now behind at work, and had to cancel three different get togethers and/ or dinners. I’m barely feeling human again, and I’ve got a lot of catching up to do for the Christmas holiday.
Alton Brown is back doing cooking videos. As always, he's an amazing teacher for such things. His latest video is showcasing a standing rib roast:
Thought i had my annual checkup today but apparently you need to make a Doc appt for them to check your BP and weight before you can actually schedule your annual checkup. Dumb. But, that's not the story. I go to schedule the actual appointment, I'm at the checkout counter and its taking forever. Eventually she calls a supervisor over saying she's having a tough time putting me on the schedule. Supervisor fucks with the computer a while, raises the white flag and calls their tech dept. They get involved and I overhear the nerd say"I've never seen this before" I swear I'm a walking EMP. I only post the humorous stories and not the multitude of electronics issues that happen to me. All. The. Time.
Could be worse! It's been considerably colder than usual for late November/ early December here so far this year. It was actually below zero this morning and right now is still in the single digits.
Had my new appliances delivered today, and I'm glad that the snow held off. We're expecting 15cm over the next day, and I was dreading having to clear off the driveway this morning so they'd deliver everything. Cue this morning when 2 scrawny Jamaicans showed up with the big truck, and proceeded to take the front door off the house to fit stuff in and out. They were bundled up like they were exploring Antarctica. It was hilarious. They busted their asses though, and did a fantastic job, despite the weather. So glad shit is all swapped out, now just waiting for the gas fitter to show up tomorrow to hook up the stove. I'd have zero qualms about doing it myself, but apparently the insurance company has different thoughts. Fuckers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Nice. Permits are getting filed today and should be approved around end of January so we can *finally* get this project moving
Just got back from three days in South Lake Tahoe where the high for each day was in the mid 60s with sunshine. GTE it was really tough to come back to the valley with 46 degrees all day and not sun for another 5 days it looks like.
It's crazy that Tahoe has nicer weather right now. Virtually no snow from what I've heard but I hate the snow so even better!
