It was also a pretty good game, which helped. I just miss the all-star game before interleague play. Separating the two leagues really added mystery and prestige to both it and the World Series.
The home run derby was ass, on regular ESPN. I did enjoy missing three homers while the director decided a baseball on the outfield grass was more captivating.
It is not the Athletics, they just guaranteed their fifth consecutive losing season. They do have a good chance of not losing 90 games. Some say that is progress. Not me
By all means, continue. Red Sox are going to trip over themselves into a wild card, which is at least an improvement.
That was a fucking heart attack yesterday. The league tried their best to keep a Canadian team off their precious playoff TV networks, but no dice. Varsho caught that ball, period. Then the Royals score 3 immediately. Anyone on earth with eyes knows that he caught it. It’s fucking ridiculous.
Never have I remembered an entire LEAGUE coming down to the wire the way the AL is today. Good lord, this is THE nail-biter year. And again, good for the Athletics team for keeping their heads high while just shoveled shit left and right. A respectful losing season with the hand they have been dealt from their fuckhead shit-on-his-shoes owner is something indeed. And Kurtz is the future.
I do love that wildcards aren’t a single game any more, and a decent amount of teams get to play in October, instead of four to eight which it was for years. All four wildcards are interesting this year— No one can resist another hate-fueled Sox v. Yankees showdown. And I’ll quietly root for the Padres to win the NL. Even more— Three teams in the playoffs this year haven’t won the world series.
The Sox are talking big, but it’s gonna be a battle. They slid in at the wire (not like the 2011 meltdown, but still), and now players are getting sick. But the postseason is a toss up, so we’ll see what happens. any postseason is a positive step. And the Roman Empire will begin in earnest in the spring. also…lol Mets
