It's insane. One of the pics I saw was of an apartment in a building that had an entry hole through the outside wall that blew up one of their commanders. It looked like only that apartment was blown up, with smoke coming out the patio doors window... it sure looked like the apartments above and below were left intact. Fucking crazy precision, if they got the guy they were targeting.
Might be a hellfire missile. They’re a jet-fired ninja star instead of a bomb. But I figure the interior would be more cropped up.
Quite possible it was an AGM-114 RX9, or something similar. Whatever it was it's likely it had no explosive warhead and the fire is from the rocket motor. Any explosive blast would've blown out a lot more of the walls on that corner of the building. Plus there'd be noticeable spalling. Something like thsese: Guided Advance Tactical Rocket

I mean, I could see that an incoming missile at that speed could cause severe bodily damage via block shrapnel, missile body itself, etc, that maybe they figured they didn't need the explosives at all? Or did it fail to explode? Still... it surprised me at how clinical that hit looks with such little apparent collateral damage.
That depends on what weapons effects you want to achieve. The smallest explosive air to ground warhead I'm aware of is on Hydra 70 rockets and that's ~10lbs with a 10 meter lethal blast/frag radius. That would've likely blown out the walls of that apartment unless they're reinforced concrete. Even then, there would've still been noticeable spalling of the exterior facade. Also, with an explosive blast, that window frame would've been gone as well. The size and shape of the entry hole makes me think it was a Hellfire sized missile, but it could've been some sort of precision guided Hydra 70 variant like the link I posted in my previous post. Some of these are scary accurate.
Iran's military is entirely designed to suppress its own population first-and-foremost. They came into power through revolution and built a security apparatus so they don't lose it the same way. As far as fighting offensively, they are terrible because they've never really done it at scale since they fought Iraq.
I saw this post, then five minutes later I went to reddit, clicked on a post about the whole current attack. Comments were talking about how targets were hit in their apartments, and everyone was discussing the humongous collateral damage from it, saying “it’s like if somebody took out a professor from MIT by leveling half of Cambridge.”
Aren’t there warheads with no explosives on them that basically shoot out blades or something? I’m not a weapons guy or anything but I heard about something super precise that can limit damage to basically a single room.
Some other pics do show significantly more collateral damage. Part of the reason I was wondering if this one was a misfire or something.
