So, this is the first official TV series under the Marvel Universe umbrella and the first 2 episodes dropped today on Disney+. I'll say that it's definitely intriguing. Little bits of 'reality' sprinkled throughout the old TV Tropes as the first episode was an homage to The Dick Van Dyke Show and the second was done in the vein of Bewitched. Without spoiling it, I'm really interested to see how it progresses the underlying story-line of what is truly happening as well as see what other famous shows of the past they take on.
They're doing a good job teasing that there is Something Bigger going on, without giving away too much, but at the same time the episodes are fun and enjoyable in between those teases. Also in the moments where the bigger reality seeps in are genuinely good.
Drunken (gummed up) Vision at the magic show was so well done. Elizabeth Olsen made her part and timing look easy.
From everything I've read without getting into spoilers it sounds like the 3rd episode is where it really starts to blur the lines and show where the story will actually start going.
Stylistically, that should be fun, too. In addition to the b&w to color and 50s to 60s transitions, there were subtle differences in the photography - like, it was very traditional sitcom / multicamera for the "normal" bits, but it would switch to a single camera / modern take when things got weird or Wanda was feeling freaky. So it'll be fun for the viewer to hop in with them into whatever insanity awaits.
I think I know where this story is going, and it's somewhere wild, Spoiler but especially tragic. We all watched Infinity War, we KNOW what actually happened to Vision. We also know that Wanda's powers come from the Reality Stone itself, and she can manipulate that fabric at will. I don't want to say any more.
I didn't click that spoiler because it's been a while since I've been totally fresh into a show where I really don't know where it's going, and I'm enjoying it. But from a couple of the clues, I suspect that there may be at least one truly depressing episode ahead.
I mean, sure, obviously there's that small detail. If you want to nitpick. Seems like a stretch, though.
We just started watching this and for the first two episodes I wasn’t sure this was worth watching. My buddy assured me it was worth sticking around for and I’m glad he did.
That is where i was. First 2 were kind of meh and filler, they could of done that in 1 ep. Haven't watched 5 yet, but 4 was good.
