Add in the clear racism against China and Russian where they have the most stereotyped problems while the American has the problem that she just loves her family too damned much.

I don't have a show to recommend, but Peacock is available streaming on Roku now. It was not when Peacock first came out, and I just noticed it is. I guess I missed it, if it was announced.

Anyone watching Lovecraft Country on HBO? I'm only a couple episodes in and it has me hooked.

I did watch Lovecraft Country. I enjoyed it. It started really strong, but to me it kind of faded a bit as it went.

    Definitely worth watching!

Watched one episode of Lovecraft and was intrigued but never went back for Ep 2.

Anyone watching The Good Lord Bird?

Wife just finished watching Queen's Gambit, and it was pretty solid.

And, just realized that all the SNL seasons are on there, including a lot of the Eddie Murphy ones that haven't been other places. I can't remember which years Lorne Michaels wasn't there, and can't remember if that was part of the reason. Anyway, Eddie's opening monologue S8E9 is still funny as shit. (This is on the free Peacock, not the premium.)

It's funny how some shows have a weak pilots but build into great things. I'm only 4 episodes in and enjoying it but the first episode was definitely the strongest. They have a good solid talented cast. The thought crossed my mind after the first episode and again after #4 but I am kinda getting Indiana Jones vibes.

This looks like the best one, easily.

...They look like the movies, not like TV shows at all.

I'm pretty stoked, honestly. It's not Citizen Kane, but it's solid entertainment.

Its good timing for lockdowns. Lots of at-home entertainment with what looks to be an ENORMOUS budget. I would have thought any of those were “phase four” movie trailers, not tv shows.

Disney went all out. Now bring back Gravity Falls.

I watched the first few episodes of Schitt’s Creek. I have no idea what’s supposed to be funny about it. The people comparing to the early seasons of Arrested Development are out of their minds.

I agree completely, although I’ve been told it picks up momentum. Eugene Levy, whom I’ve never liked, is okay in this, but both of the kids are painfully unfunny cliches of their character types, and Catherine O’Hara looks like she melted.

It's definitely better after the first couple seasons. It's interesting that you point out the two kids cliche type, because one of the unique things about the show is that all four of the Schitt's grow in some way of the course of the run. (None more dramatically than Alexis.) The first season, I think all of them were sort of being tentative about who their characters are, and they began to lean into that more with each episode. The Motel name change and growth, Noah Reid's original cover of Tina Turner's Simply the Best, Moira's commercial for Herb Ertlinger's Fruit Wine, the Christmas episode for Johnny are all highlights for me. One of my favorite episodes was The Throuple (Season 3), because there's a lot of awkward and preposterous moments. If you can make to Turkey Shoot (S1, Ep 7), you might want to stick it out. If you still aren't sure and make it to Family Dinner (S2, Ep2), then you'll know. If you still don't like it, just bail, otherwise, Seasons 5 and 6 are worth sticking around and definitely have all my other favorite episodes.

I have watched the whole series through twice. The first time, I was watching with a friend, and just hung on for her, because I did not think it was for me. I was glad I stuck it out. (Oh, but if it bothers you to see dudes kiss, then just bail now.)

I binged through the rest of the first season. I’m out. Whatever it is, it’s just not my cup of tea. It’s the kind of show that critics try to convince you is amazing when it’s just not. It’s kind of like that show Girls on HBO.

Then again I think Nathan for You is the funniest shit ever, so YMMV.

Fair enough. I didn't even know the critics liked it until after I was through Season 5, and I usually don't like what the critics do. I hated Girls.

Rightfully so, it starred Lena Dunham. But I guess I can see why people like this one. It is definitely well-written and probably deserves whatever awards it gets.
