I thought that said "giggling opportunities." And I thought it was one of those fetish things. Or like some old people want to hire you to come over and laugh to make things cheerier.

". . . and that's how my husband died in the War."
    "Hahaha, haha ha"

"Bernice said she has a brown spot on her leg that's twice as big as it was last week"
    "whoop, whoop, lol lol"

    That'd be a great job.

I’m still kinda “meh” about it. Part of that is because the other guys in the group very obviously haven’t been putting the time or energy into it, even before COVID came along. I no longer care to try and herd this group of cats like I used to because of the other part, which is my energy is more in writing now.

I enjoy playing and all, but not if I have to worry about who is gonna fuck up what any given night.

We have a gig at the end of this month so long as Rona stays at bay. My plan is no mingling, show up, play, and GTFO with minimal human contact.

For the first time in ten years, I have a job that is first shift, weekdays. So now I actually have nights and weekends free, so I could commit to things weeks ahead of time.
The culture shock is gonna take a while, going from Nashville to middle of nowhere Midwest, but that's also a plus in a lot of ways. Nobody out here is playing for "exposure" only.

The other thing I gotta get used to is the fact that I'm not right out of college anymore. Part of my brain is like "do I wanna be playing with guys in their 40s?" But then the other part says "Dude, you're in your late 30s now...so..."

I just don't want to play what I call "biker dude rock." Believe me, I have no pride or shame when playing in a cover band, but there are so many good songs to play, you don't have to lean on ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I know a lot of people here love SRV, but man...he is not my cup of tea.

I shot my wad early this holiday. I took Thursday off and played a round of golf with some friends. Started drinking beer at 7:30 in the morning, grabbed lunch and some beer after the round. Went home, showered and took a quick nap (drinking all day in the heat was easier when I was half my age) then out to watch fireworks at a house on the lake. With copious amounts of sangria.

Since then I’ve just been doing crap around the house, and we’ll probably go down to the lake later, maybe some hiking tomorrow. We’re still trying to avoid crowds, which has eliminated many of our usual July 4th activities.

Been a good day so far, daughter in the middle of potty training managed to not piss herself all morning and went down for a nap easy. I was able to get a good bit of lifting in plus practice some new kettlebell techniques. 20 something me would probably be very disappointed I’m not day drinking but happy I didn’t give up on working out post kids.

This way or on the rocks is amazing.

Hope you’re all enjoying your weekends!

Mine’s been made up of working outside during the day (pressure washing the driveway and re-sanding the interlocking brick), gardening, and then relaxing in the nice breeze in the shade while drinking some refreshing beverages.

Slow cooking some tenderloin, onions, mushrooms, garlic, potatoes, all while sipping from a growler of rum and coke.

    Life is good!

    Happy National Holiday to everyone.

So I guess I'm barbecuing today; Jungle Julia didn't inform me of her plans to cook-out.
I'm pretty buzzed right now, but that's not a big deal.

In other news, Li'l Bandit will be coming over for the first time in three weeks (Chinese virus free).

Same yo. Started making margaritas at 4pm and after about 80 games of cornhole later, I’m pretty messed up.

Did you know that possums can grow to be the size of small dogs? And that they get very territorial on places that aren’t their territory?

    vultures gonna eat well tonight!!

I think I just about killed myself in the heat.

Figured this weekend was the weekend to regrout the driveway (polymeric sand, not grout) so yesterday was all pressure washing and today was all sanding and misting. In 95F heat.

I’m DONE. Driveway looks great, but holy shit am I never doing that again. More than happy to pay someone to pass out in my stead in the future.

Otherwise, having a nice sangria on the deck and watching the season opening Austrian F1 race.

I finally watched "Hamilton", and have to say, though I'm not big on Broadway plays, that was pretty damned good. My wife and sons have been to see the off Broadway version and are huge fans, always listening to the soundtrack. So they're happy I got to finally see it.

We have a heatwave coming this week, in the high 90's every day, so I'll try to do a lot of writing during the day and do the outdoor stuff in the morning and evening. I wasn't made for that kinda weather. Other than errands and getting ready for our son's graduation party, the main focus is keeping fresh water in front of the animals.

Welcome to my hell. 95 is fairly cool for us in the summer. Yesterday it was around 103, and I spent the first half of the day changing out the flotation on my in-law’s dock. The humidity is the worst part

Hendricks is my go to gin as well & a Tom Collins is my summer sipping drink. Essentially, a ginned up lemonade soda

My top three gins are Bombay Sapphire (loads of botanical flavors), Hendricks (clean and crisp) , and Botanist (almost a cross between the above). I had Bombay tonight down at the lake. When I was in London in 2016 we had Hendricks G&Ts with loads of cucumber. I didn’t think it was anything fantastic, but we were drinking gin n London, so everything was a bit elevated.
