Trump supporters are fucking insane. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/202...p-his-rallies-are-church-and-he-is-the-gospel
I find it interesting to watch the people who don’t officially support him but still vote R because “fuck Dems”.
i believe the correct phrasing is “own the libs” and I also believe at least half the people who think this way actually want to literally own them, as in property, as well
Genuinely curious where those die hards go from here. What do those people do when the bubble bursts? How do they react when the delusion is over? What causes them to realize they are in a cult of personality, and a fucking awful one at that? I know it's a minority, they are the Juggalos of politics, but....does that community, that ethos just disappear if he loses? I mean, Trump has precious little support in the middle. The energy around his rallies wears off eventually, and I think every shot fired this summer was directly at his own feet. Hes losing in most polls, and it's starting to widen. The trump ship is starting to look Titanic. R/exmormon becomes R/formertrumper? As dumb as that VF article is, those people dont think they are stupid, and they wont go away, nor will the impulses that made them support Trump.
my guess would be a third party candidate of the same ilk. He’s gonna lose so bad, with Biden doing so little, that they’re gonna cry conspiracy and support the next thing that smells similar and talks the same. In this case, there’s a whole bunch of alt right assholes more than willing to take that support with no direction and use it to prop up a campaign to further promote their main gig in journalism... sorry, profitable propaganda
At the risk of Godwinning the discussion, there's been some really good scholarship on what happened in Germany after WWII and how the process of "denazification" proceeded over the decades. The answer is that for a lot of them the delusion never ends; many Germans went to their graves in the second half of the 20th century as die hard Nazis. It's not a unique phenomenon, there are plenty of Russians (Putin included) who still believe in the greatness of the USSR; Japanese who remained loyal to the Emperor, etc.
It's amazing how Trump thinks the statue issue both matters and is a political winner: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presiden...uilding-rebuilding-monuments-american-heroes/ I could spend paragraphs just roasting that completely arbitrary (and at times odd) list of names. Also the provision to create a road show hauling giant blocks of stone and steel around the country like a shitty circus, just a top notch idea.
Interesting read. https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/c...vents_new_farleft_fascism_in_hateful/fwwba1q/
Apparently it's a strategy document attributed to Karl Rove, although there's no proof he actually wrote it. It's pretty spot on for the nature of conservative discourse on the internet. You'll see it everywhere from Reddit to the comments under news articles.
There is a part of me that has a teeeeeeeeeny tiny bit of respect, only because I remember back in 2015 during an awards show where he said he was gonna run for president in 2020. I just appreciate continuity I guess.
We need to nip these vanity runs in the bud. Any celebrity that runs for President gets aggressively canceled.
He threw a crybaby spaz tantrum on national tv when he didn’t win an MTV award. Him running just shows there is no dignity to politics whatsoever anymore. And people WILL waste their vote on the obnoxious little insect.
Yeah, but if we allow this to be a viable marketing strategy, we're going to be up to our eyeballs in bullshit runs for President. Need to punish Kanye hard and fast so that no one ever tries it again.
