    I want to upload some of the songs from my friend's ipod onto my computer. I'm afraid, though, that plugging his ipod into my computer will cause it to automatically erase (happened to my ex a few years ago). Does anyone know how to do this successfully?

    Sigh...sadly I had the instructions to upload my own ipod from Diet Coke Head saved in my inbox on the old board. Damn I wish I'd saved that pm.

    I'm an employer. Anyone who declines to answer a question in an application immediately goes to the bottom of the pile. I can't refuse to hire someone for failing to answer a question that I can't require an answer for; but they sure as hell are going to be my last choice (supposing there's a valid reason for asking such a question in the first place, otherwise I'm an asshole).

    And I will actively be looking for reasons why they are not suitable for employment.

    Employment is a position of trust between two parties. I trust an employee to do their work properly, and they trust me to pay them; amongst other things. If they can't trust me enough to answer my questions, I don't trust them at all. And I don't employ people I can't trust.

    [I posted this in the laptops section of the Techthread too, but not sure if it really fits there.]

    I deal with a lot of documents at work, predominantly pdfs. I have to cart them around between office, home and meetings depending on which given one I'm working on. I also have to edit, highlight and notate them; which I prefer to do by hand for sake of ease. To date I've been printing hard copies; which I hate doing for weight, bulk and wastage.

    I've been doing some research into e-book readers/tablets but I'm pretty lost. Ideally what I'm after fits the following:

    - Will display various common file types, with pdf a must;
    - The documents can be notated on screen in handwriting (to allow comments, arrows, strikethroughs, highlighting and so on), preferably by stylus;
    - Ability to have a blank screen to take notes on;
    - A decent size if possible, ideally similar to an A4 page;
    - Ability to save the document as amended; and
    - USB connectivity would be good, but not necessary. Just as long as uploading and downloading documents is functional.

    Anything more than this, really, is not needed and I don't really want to pay for something I won't use. If there's no other option, I will.

    Can anyone give me a recommendation or point me in the right direction?

    This is pretty mank, but I thought I'd seek enlightenment.

    I am having issues with 'white tounge'-as in, my tounge has a weird white tinge to it. I brush my teeth regularly, and my tongue as well but it doesn't get rid of it completely. I'm assuming it has something to do with the drinking/smoking, I'm just wondering if you guys have any experience or advice in regards to this?

    What are the best resources for finding a used car? I need to purchase another car for driving clients around that gets better gas mileage than my Tahoe. I started online but was immediately overwhelmed. Any advice or stories are appreciated.

    Are newspaper classifieds worth it?
    Ebay?
    Go to a dealer?

    Thanks

    Do you have a family/regular mechanic? I generally start there... just helped 3 friends do exactly what you're doing that way.

    Asked the mechanic if he knew of anything, and he actually had other customers that were selling their cars, that he knew the complete history on, and could vouch for.

    Listen to Nett because he's right. When I had to start looking after mine was totaled, he's the first person I asked. He had a line on a couple, neither of which I wanted but he still had it.

    Sounds like a mild case of thrush (oral candida). Google it but beware the images. They aren't appetizing.

    Has anyone on the board gone through the CMA program? I am seriously considering beginning the process and i would like to get some first hand advice from someone who has gone through it so I can get an idea of what to expect. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    I've been trying to figure out for days how to get my internet to work but to no success, so I thought I'd ask here.

    The problem is that I connect to the Internet fine through wireless, and it has a very strong signal. But it only work for a few minutes until it will stop working again. In the corner of Google Chrome it will state 'Resolving host...' or 'Connecting to [website]...' but won't go any further. I can disconnect and reconnect and it will work again, but again only for a couple of minutes. This is common across all places I've brought my laptop to, and furthermore, when my internet stops working, noone else who is connected to the internet will have functioning internet either. Finally, the strange thing is that programs such as Skype and MSN Messenger will usually work fine, I just can't browse.

    This is very frustrating, I have attempted to change all kinds of settings as suggested online but nothing so far has worked. I have a laptop with Windows 7, it has been formatted just recently and I am fairly certain that a virus is not the problem. The laptop is about 2 years old at which point it was top-of-the-line, so I do not think it is out of date hardware that is the problem either. If anyone is able to help, I would be thankful.

    OK, so I'm trying to move to Hawaii at the end of August to go live with one of my friends that has an apartment there. I filled out a few job applications, and I just got a call back this morning from a hotel in Hawaii. I told them I don't live there yet, but will soon, and they want to have a Skype interview with me.

    I've never had an online interview before. Does anybody have any experience with this? Is there anything special I need to know? Should I still wear like a suit for it? If anybody has done something like this, any tips or pointers would be great. Thanks a lot.

    You don't need to wear pants, but triple check that the camera is off before standing up.

    Has anyone tried the beats earbuds from Monster? I don't really care for the Dr. Dre marketing shtick but their flat cable looks very enticing because it's advertised to be tangle-free and sturdier than your average cable. My problem with in-ear earbuds has always been the cable fucking up after about a year. Any reviews/personal experience or just your expertise would really be appreciated. Thanks.

    This is their product page: http://beatsbydre.com/products/Products.aspx?pid=B4608

    This seems like a fairly gross question to ask, and I'll preface this by saying I don't live in a dump...

    ...but how do I get rid of fruit flies? My roommate and I have been noticing that they are appearing in both our kitchen in bathroom. Before you jump to the conclusion that since we are two early-twenties males and our place must be a disaster, it's actually very clean. We don't leave dishes around, we don't leave food in the fridge forever, and we clean the whole apartment fairly regularly. My instinct is to say that they've been coming from the drains or something since the kitchen and the bathroom are the only rooms they're in, and we obviously don't have any rotted-ass food laying around in either room. Again, both rooms are kept pretty clean, so we're at a loss as to why the fuck they're here. Is there any chance there's something in the drain that's causing them to show up? How would we get rid of that for good?

    -Check the drain, which means take it apart if you have to.
    -Leave a small water bottle with some wine in it on the counter. They'll crawl in there, get hammered and DIIIIIIE!
    -It could be your neighbors.
    -Are there animals in the house?

    Check the drains, also...do you have a live plant anywhere?

    Once you have them, they're a bastard to get rid of. Bet trick I've tried is to take a bowl, put some fruit in it (banana peels work best), and then cover it with plastic wrap. Get a fork and punch holes in it two or three times, then let the bowl sit in the area where the flies are the worst. Flies crawl in, flies can't crawl out.

    And get rid of any other fruit you have on your counters. Bananas, a bowl of apples, whatever. Put it in the fridge.

    I had a similar problem in my office. Bleach in the traps of all the drains gets rid of that problem and you can pick up these stick things for potted plants at Home Depot / Lowes that will take care of any plant issues. Good Luck!
