http://swedish.imdb.com/title/tt5016504/ Just finished the 2nd episode and I'm quite liking it. Anyone else watching it?
Yup. We're watching it over here. So far I am enjoying the ride. I don't really understand what is going on since I did not read the comic, but el husband has read it and thinks they are doing pretty good for how confusing and complicated the story is. Tulip is mesmerizing. And Preacher's just damned interesting. I'm looking forward to the next episode for sure.
I am in nerd heaven. This was one of my favorite graphic novels (Sandman, 100 Bullets, and the Dark Knight Returns were some others) and they are doing a decent job with the show. The first episode was a bit slow to get things off the ground, but the second was fantastic. The 1881 bit gave me such a nerd-boner, I peed a little. My advice for anyone watching is to understand this is a Tarantino-esque, hyper violent world. It's intentionally brutal, like Old Testament brutal. I sincerely hope this goes the distance.
Preacher is the best comic ever written next to The Watchmen. They are doing a great job so far. If only people who haven't read it had ANY IDEA of what insane slaughter, carnage and depravity await. The guy playing Cassidy has nailed the role. The only thing I don't like is the make-up job on arseface. He doesn't look scarred, he looks like a mutant creature.
It's interesting. I was not familiar with it, and wasn't quite understanding what the hell was up with Cassidy and other things happening, but episode 2 helped and it clearly seems to me it will be a likely cult folowwing due to having to get up to speed on it, however TWD should have only been that as well and has done great as I understand so who knows. Looking forward to more. Arseface just creeps me out. The second baptism was great as well...."we're going to get it right this time"
This show gets better with each episode. The soundtrack alone is magnificent. Tulip is amazing and the guy playing Cassidy will probably never play anyone else again.
Even the slow parts aren't really slow on this show. Every character has some sort of dark horror in them, and the three main characters devour the scenery every time they're on camera. Cassidy reacts to everything like he's living in a giant conspiracy thoery that he wrote. "I knew you were government, the clones were a dead giveaway." He treats killing the exact same men twice like it's an inconvenience. I'm dying. He's turning the place into a serial killer's burial ground with Jesse, and everyone, oblivious despite the fact he's not even careful. The actor playing Cassidy was the obnoxious Scottish rapist/loon in "Lockout" aka "MS1: Maximum Security"
I love how completely okay with everything everyone is. Hell, Tulip barely even reacted to a mortally wounded guy going all capri sun on a cooler full of bags of blood, and Jesse didn't seem all that interested in what Cassidy actually hit with the van even though he claimed it was people and the man is living in the same building as Jesse.
I heart this show. I had skepticism considering how great of a comic was, but this is such a fun show with three wonderful lead characters. It's crazy when you know where this story ends up. And then of course you have our other main character from the 1880's. And the actor playing him is doing it marvellously menacing (which is important). For now I'll call him Soak (or Cowboy) until we get to know who he is.
Just caught up on the season finale... holy fuck. I really liked it. Looking forward to the next season.
I had a feeling they'd have a massacre, but I thought it would happen in the church. I'm relieved they signed it for season 2. Im guessing we'll be meeting Jesse's "family" next. My favourite moment this year: "CLONES, BLOODY CLONES!!!!!" The humour is coal-black.
Yup, love this show. I don't read the comics so I don't know exactly where it's going. If it goes the seven season arc that's intended though, it will be one hell of a ride.
I predict five seasons. They already combined two arcs this season, added new characters and changed the fates of many. There are some things that are so sick and characters so disgusting they might cut back, because they have no choice. They already toned down Quincannon's fascination with beef (Jackie Earl Haley KILLED IT in the role). The perversion and absolute fucking brazen madness that lies ahead makes me sqeal with glee. GODDAMN YOU FOR NOT PUTTING THIS SHOW ON HBO WHERE IT BELONGS. Even if you don't like comics, you HATE comics, you still owe it to yourself to read this comic. Either now or after the show ends, it is the most fun thing ever written in the history of comics, period. You want a story with an great ending? This one has the ULTIMATE ending. What I would call the greatest ending ever written, it's certainly the craziest one ever that is no lie. Of course, keep in mind the comic is also relentlessly violent, horrifying and depressing. At times it makes Rob Zombie look like "Up With People!".
Just finished the show last week and now I'm reading the comics. Pretty crazy stuff. I wonder if they're going to get into his family backstory in season 2.
Are you guys watching season two? Because it's as awesome as ever. I fucking love Hitler. And the actor they cast as the Saint Of Killers is perfect. He's nailing the brooding and determined Terminiator approach he had in the comic to a T.
Watching. Yeah, both of those actors have been in a ton of stuff, they are terrific so far in this. As an aside, when Preacher kicked in that door, I totally thought he might find Tulip in a compromising position. I was right, but not in that way....
I think Netflix has "broken" my viewing preferences, as I'm just lining them up to binge watch them when they're all done. Good to hear that it's as good this season as it was last season.
