A new drawing in my Cairo sketchbook. While I've been here, I've been doing a little reading about the theology. This sketch is inspired by what I've read about.

The Zabaleen are a community here in Cairo that serve as the city's informal garbage collectors. They sort the trash of Cairo in what is known as "Garbage City." They live there amongst the garbage piles that they sort and recycle something like 80% of the garbage they collect.

I've been working on a huge metal sculpture for the past three months. I think I'm about 2 weeks out from completing it but thought I'd share a process photo. I've been working with four student apprentices for the project. The final sculpture is going to be 20 feet long and 12 feet high. The logistics of the structure have been driving me crazy but hopefully it will all work.

This is no where near done but I wanted to give you guys an idea of what I've been working on. If any of you are familiar with pop culture you will recognize the Iron Giant. It's basically going to be a recreation of Megan Fox when she rebuffs the fat kid as he is handing her the rose.

I made this during lunch. This was supposed to be for a female friend going through divorce. She is a huge Star Wars fanatic.

here are some finished photographs of the huge wire sculpture i was working on, called "the egyptian sibyl." it's 17 feet long, 20 feet tall and installed on a rooftop in cairo with the dramatic egyptian sky as a backdrop. it's inspired by the sibyls from michelangelo's sistine chapel... if you're interested, i made a short video about the sculpture that you can check out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gfwa0jxcde

After three years, I finally finished the last page of my Cairo sketchbook. I made a short video showing it, in case you're interested. This week, time to move on to a new sketchbook!

During my last week in Egypt, I went swimming in the Red Sea with a tiny scratch on my foot. From that, I got an infection that I've been battling for the last three months. Here's a drawing I made about it: "Infection."

After three months of being stuck at home, I finally got back to the workshop and made some new sculptures. They're actually going to be released at the end of this month through the design firm Touch of Modern in limited editions of 10.

Started playing around with colors in Photoshop, pulled up a picture of Gemma Ward, ended up with a WIP.

Not a huge fan of how it turned out but I'm calling it quits on it all the same.

    This is not my art!

This was given to me last night by a lady-friend. It's titled "You, Me, and the Sea."
    It's oil on canvas.
