I do this with a group a friends, so maybe people would like it also. We did a book club thread, but that died after a few months. A movie club might be more doable.

Basically people nominate a movie currently on Netflix (we would start early month) and they get voted on. Then the following month, everyone watches the movie within that month. Reviews, satire, ripping it to shreds, etc. all cool.

If theres enough interest, lets do it. If not, fuck it.

Sounds great but is this for “Netflix Original” movies only, or any produced movie available online?

I tend to think that it would be any US and Canada available movie that you can make a case for. Maybe one of each... one Netflix produced, one that's not... as there is something to be said for watching a first-run show/series/movie on Netflix as opposed to something that has already been through the theatres.

After all, it's way easier to watch 2 movies in a month than read a book... not as much of a commitment.

I like that idea. Netflx has good original content, let’s not forget Netflix films like Scorsese’s “The Irishman” is coming out in the future.

Do US and CA have the same releases or just similar/overlapping ones?

For the first one, I nominate LA Confidential.

I don't currently have Netflix (I do have Amazon Prime) but if this takes off I may get in on it.

Nett knows all the tricks to get around paying for Netflix. He can hook you up. Or Juice can just give you his password and you can mooch off his account.

Im actually more interested in trying out Netflix Original movies. Now so far Ive heard most have sucked balls but it would be interesting to see how they are handling feature length material. If too many are sucky we can revert to just Hollywood films on netflix.

I thought that the two Stephen King movies so far, “1922” and “Gerald’s Game” were excellent. I also hear “Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday” is awesome and on par with the original.

I nominate “What We Do In The Shadows” as the non-Netflix movie.

People kept recommending this to me. Meh. It wasn't all that funny to me. After Thor Ragnarok came out, Taika Waititi got a lot of mention, and he was pretty funny in it. But, when This Is Spinal Tap sets the bar for mockumetaries, well, it's a pretty high bar. The entire "Stu" bit was good, but I just really wanted more than is there.
