Knowing Elon it’s not likely they’re going to just throw a set of bags on it to achieve the kind of adjustment they’ll need. Alignment changes a LOT with height, and I expect that that kind of adjustability they want while maintaining alignment/suspension geometry might take some complex engineering.
I'd assume they'd set the alignment for ride height for tire wear and then lower it for charging when the cars not moving. Many modern cars have variable ride height. Wifey's Jeep has about a 4-5" difference from parked to the "Rock" setting.
Yeah, that makes sense... it's not like they have to drive it at the lower setting. I just wonder how they'd do that with an EV and the different underbody... battery pack, etc, might make for a different availability of space for such ride height adjustment mechanics. All while saying they're selling the car for $30k.
Yeah, I’m not meaning to say it’s not a solved problem, I just mean that they probably aren’t going to grab an OEM jeep or porsche assembly and use it.
Absolutely. Combined with what I was saying about when some of us are not allowed to drive for medical reasons, but still want to get place-to-place independently? Awesome. lol, it's still fun to just go out and drive an awesome car on a curvy road, or go four-wheeling in the mud, or whatever, but it'll get to the point where THAT is the car that has the special sticker on it, instead of the driverless car.
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/08/google-will-block-sideloading-of-unverified-android-apps-starting-next-year/ Good. When all the Android users finish coping over the loss of their poverty phone, they can get an iPhone and join civilized society like the rest of us.
This is basically a nothingburger. You can run any apps you want on non-Google builds of Android. Most people running a Google build are using the Play store. And most of the apps in F-Droid or whatever are legit and developer verification isn't a high bar. No app functionality is tested and it's Bring Your Own Signing Keys. Some tiny fragment of the population is running a Google certified Android build and will really, really want access to whatever esoteric app where the developer won't verify their ID. It's not zero but it will affect almost nobody.
Yeah I know, I was more making fun of the people on Reddit flipping out that they can't sideload a 3rd party Youtube client, which can still be done, but you know, freak out.
