Happy National Bubbly Day! Will you enjoy a mimosa to celebrate?

I read on the calendar site about the various bubblys:

    1. Cava is produced in the rolling hills of Spain and fills a glass with bright citrus and fruit notes. Protected in Spain, this bubbly must meet stringent requirements to earn the name Cava. Using only the "traditional methods," Cava requires a second fermentation in each bottle produced.
    2. Champagne is the most common form of bubbly people know. To earn the name, this bubbly wine must be made in the Champagne region of France. In addition, certain kinds of grapes are used with a specific method before bottling. When celebrating with Champagne, enjoy the crisp flavors of apple or a nutty, sweet finish.
    3. Prosecco is bubbly wine that takes us to Italy and Prosecco. This delicious sparking wine is made primarily from the Glera grape. Prosecco celebrates refreshing floral and fruit notes.

I have been educated. I thought prosecco was basically champagne grown and created anywhere outside the Champagne region. I want to try cava now.

Happy weekend, lovely folks. I'm keeping stupid busy over here, but having fun. Y'all be good.

I just had 2 cases of Prosecco delivered earlier this week. I really like it. It's got a very low sugar content (I'm watching my sugar intake), and it's refreshing as hell on a hot day.

I especially like to take some frozen berries (I generally keep a few bags on hand in the freezer) and use them as ice in a nice big glass of Prosecco. It's like a low impact/effort attempt at white sangria.

So what I'm taking from that is that the bottle of Prosecco I drink is actually good for me.

In other news, I'm super happy with the early results from my recent landscaping endeavours.

I top dressed the fuck out of my front lawn, and now, about 2 weeks later, it is doing incredibly well. The shit tons of grass seed that I dumped on it has taken hold and the grass is easily 2-3 times thicker than it was. There's still a bunch of topsoil that has to break down and soak into the lawn, but walking on the lawn right now is like walking on sponge... it's so thick and plush it's not funny.

It was an insane amount of work to get it done (and get all the mulch on the front beds), but it was so worth it.

(Ignore the driveway, edging and burning out the shit from the driveway happens tomorrow).

I once heard that a small portion of red wine is actually good for you, so I'm drinking a lot of it tonight.

    You know, for my health.

I'm working on the air conditioner for my truck right now. I got the compressor rebuilt at a local shop (I didn't feel like doing it myself again), and now I'm waiting on the vaccum pump to finish.

You sold me! I like to have a drink or two when I cook, but am also trying to drop 10# or so. I'll have to give it a shot.

I picture a fine wine glass, covered in greasy fingerprints, sitting on the battery of your old box suburban. Please tell me you're not drinking out of red solo cup like a heathen!

It’s not like the drink would be sitting on the kitchen table, there’s too many jumper cables on it.

Yeah. I’ve changed up my drinking habits for the last few months, with the occasional Prosecco beverage instead of the norm, and it’s helped me drop over 50lbs in the last 2.5 months.

I’m currently in the third year of “analysis paralysis” for our lawn. We have three big pine trees that are in stages of death, and so the needles and cones make it impossible to even work the lawn. The MIL has said she wants to help to remove the biggest tree though, so this year we do that and then I just rake and rake and remove the needle bed.

In the fall, I’ll seed it and see how the spring looks, then start actually fertilizing and using some weed ‘n feed.

Please. It's a black Yeti tumbler.

In other news, I found out that the evaporator on my truck is leaking. Out comes the ddashboard.

Our goat can swim. He found out accidentally when he straddled between the dock and pontoon and it floated apart.

What really sucks is that I ALREADY replaced the evaporator on this thing in 2018. I have no idea why it would corrode so quickly.
The dashboard isn't that bad of a job on these trucks; I've done several of them over the years. It's about an hour and a half to get it out, an hour or so to open/ clean the HVAC box, and the rest "is the reverse of the removal," as the old Haynes manuals say.

I'll probably do it this weekend; I might even do a write-up in the Automotive Thread.

I've basically stopped drinking entirely. I never had an issue or was much of a drinker anyway, but whenever I did I always ended up feeling nauseous even after 2-3 drinks.

Looks great! Getting new sod this week in the backyard (last year's tornado that took down a tree and ripped up our deck/irrigation system). When that's done, I'll be top dressing with soil & some sheep/peet and seeding the hell out of it. Stupid thistles. Really cant wait to enjoy the backyard again, but we'll be missing the big Ash shade tree.

My body just mutinied with alcohol as I’ve gotten older and tiny bits will leave me hungover for days. I average a single beverage a month. I finally asked my doctor at my physical the other week about it and he just sailed past it with the Doctor answer. “Your body is just trying to tell you not to drink, you should listen to it.” Lame.

I've been trying to lay off the heavier beers as some of the higher alcohol content 16oz cans can exceed 300 calories each. Throw back a 4-pack of those a couple times a week and yikes. I've been trying to substitute weeds instead but then I get the munchies something fierce. Not sure if I'm really saving any calories but at least the liver is getting a break.
