I'm not sure I completely understand what you're trying to ask, but meh...

The content of this episode, according to the Kindle doc version of the book, was around the location 10k out of 14k mark...not the best benchmark, but it shows they are doing a good job of keeping things proportionate. With two episodes left, and given the content of the remainder of the first book, two more episodes seems perfect as far as fitting everything in without leaving too much out.

Of course, to fit in every last thing, they would have needed a 20-episode season, which goes to show just how well they've done at condensing enough to save budget/time without really cutting anything out.

For those of you who (like me) have not read the books and are having trouble at times keeping up with who everyone is and the relationships between characters, this little infographic should help a ton. (Linked because the image is huge) If you are caught up with the show than there are no spoilers.

Also, for those of you who may be interested, it seems that there is a Medieval 2: Total War mod based on A Song of Ice and Fire. Westeros: Total War.

That image is hilarious. The star inside of quotes for Renly and Loras is priceless.

Too bad the Dwarf dies next episode... it would have been cool if he was around longer.

It's a big bummer too, because if the actor that plays the Dwarf didn't grow so damn fast, he could of lasted another season easily. I guess it's better they kill him off, lest they fuck up like Lost did with that black kid.

    Seriously?

It's a joke, poking Chater who banned someone just a couple posts back for the same.
    No really. He dies.
    Not really.
    You're an idiot.

Netdata my be officially my favorite person on this board after this last exchange. (don't get all big headed you were close anyway). I've read the books and have ordered the last so these spoilers only get me to the point that I have to download the episodes after the fact to see what happens in the screen version.

The books follow a pattern I'm not used to in books, as others have mentioned. The episodes do a great job following the books. I'm a huge fan at this point and to be honest I'm following this closer than I did the Sopranos when it was still good. I'm not going to spoil anything but I have to say the books were shocking at the turns and strategy (people who die, when, why). I can't wait to get the last book and watch the entire series. In short, I'm hooked.

So I sat down in front of my OnDemand last night and decided to check out a few episodes of GoT in order to ascertain what all the fuss was about. I don't really have time to follow another series, but since The Dude has been raving and raving about the series...meh, why not.

Eight hours later, I'm now thoroughly caught up. I'm a fan now. And I'm dying for more information.

-Why can Daenerys (the one married to the buff tribal dude) take slaves from a village now and not get in trouble? I was digging the tribal dude ripping out that other dudes tongue, but I don't know why she wanted those slave women. Is this a grab for power? An attempt to kickstart her reputation as Daenerys the Merciful? Does she need a medicine woman to give birth? So confused. Also, for those of you who read the books....does she actually like her husband Drogo? Or is all that "my sun and stars" shit a ploy?

-Are dragons actually going to be making an appearance (this is something I would be very, very interested in)? Was that skull in the dungeon of King's Landing (you know, the one Arya saw) actually a T-rex skull? I think it was.

    -Where is Arya's wolf?

-White Walkers. Are they the things that the captured slave-girl in Winterfell was talking about when she said (paraphrase) "There are things coming...all the blades need to be headed north"? Or is she talking about something different? Were the two dead watchmen that John Snow's dire wolf found already dead, or just pretending? Also confused on that point.

-What is the deal with the fucking raven dreams that Bran keeps having?

-But...I thought that Little Finger liked Catelyn. Why would he do that to her husband?

-I am dying to know about John Snow's parentage. I know that this is technically a spoiler, but if you know...PM me.

The answers to some of your questions will be coming shortly, so I won't spoil them for you.

-When the Dothraki conquer a village/town/city they pretty much rape every woman they find. Those women were villagers that Daenrys took as slave, and she did it so that they wouldn't be raped. As for Daenrys relationship with Drogo, at this point she loves/respects him, but it took her a while to get there. How their relationship develops is a big part of her story in the book, but it makes sense that they had to cut a lot of that out. I can definitely understand why you might be confused by it.

-The White Walkers are the things that the slave girl is talking about in winterfell. You saw one in the first scene of the series, it's the thing that kills the rangers in the snow. The rangers that Jon Snow's wolf found were dead. When the white walkers kill something it becomes a zombie like creature.

-Little Finger is a conniving little shit. He also hates the Starks. Catelyn was originally betrothed to Ned's older brother, and Little Finger was in love with her. Little Finger challenged Ned's older brother to a duel for her, and he got his ass whooped. He was only spared because Catelyn asked Ned's older brother to do so. Little Finger still has a chip on his shoulder about it. Little Finger sort of explains this in the scene with the two whores going down on each other.

-Actually Jon Snow's parentage isn't a spoiler because it hasn't been revealed in the books. For all anyone knows he is Ned's bastard son. There is a lot of speculation about it though.

I vaguely remember his mouth making noises, but I couldn't tell you what those noises were. I was distracted by the important...plot development...happening between the other two people in the room. This explains a lot. Thank you!

They're Northern Inuit Dogs in actuality. Not sure of the price tag for one, but you best head North to find them.

"...Oh wait, that's me." Also, "I've been lucky all my life." I love Tyrion.

For those who have read the books:
Did you also find yourselves somehow hoping that somehow Eddard wouldn't die? I think his death pissed me off more than any other main character's, save for maybe Robb's, which was partly just a shock. I guess with this, you kind of saw it coming, but Robb's was just blah blah conversation...bang, dead.

Basically, George R.R. Martin is a dick.

I love how when I go to type in "Game of Thrones" into my search bar, expecting it to go to a torrent site, and instead it just goes to Google, where the first headline is "OMG LOOK AT WHAT FUCKING HAPPENS IN THIS EPISODE HOLY SHIT!!!!" Thank you, Google.

TV only spoilers (haven't read the books):
Well, at least there isn't a main character anymore. Also, I don't think I'm going to be surprised when the entirety of the cast all fall off a cliff and explode at the same time to end the series.

And I do hope they're saving all the battles for the next episode, if that's how every battle goes that'd be pretty... lame.

Yes. It's one of the times when reading the series that you feel the urge to throw the book against a wall in shock.

One of the times. It's a whole new fantasy series and this is just the start of it.

I got chills. Even though I knew it was coming, the show managed to make me feel all those awful emotions I had reading the book a long time ago.

As for the Whispering Wood battle (where they captured Jaime) and Tyrion's battle, I'm not surprised or put off by the fact that they didn't show it. I think Game of Thrones rests far more heavily on character development than battles. Besides, Jorah's fight with Drogo's bloodrider was good enough for me.
