    In other news, Trump repeatedly said "Iceland" during his Davos speech. Is he sundowning, or are we just planning to conquer the entire arctic like a set of dominoes?

    He does, but he may be using them less and less. I remember in his first term you could literally see the moments when he would go off script. Sometimes he'd even say something his speechwriters had written for him, recoil at it, and then rebut it with his own deeply stupid thoughts.

    Does it matter what he says at all? If he went out on stage and yelled into a bag filled with his own shit, would a single member of the cult of personality walk away from him at this point? Once you deflect child rape, that’s it for you— you’re in it to the bitter end. The kicker is life is going to continue after Fatty is gone, you’ll be rudderless, hated and all the bullshit you used to excuse him and his cult is online forever.

    I still remember that really powerful speech Schwarzenegger gave a while back, where he talked about growing up among former nazis in the aftermath of WWII, and how broken they were as men. Just wracked by the knowledge that they had done evil things to zero gain.

    Probably not, at least hopefully not. What will likely happen is he will emerge from Davos with a BIG WONDERFUL DEAL that only HE could negotiate. I wonder if someone sat him down and explained how NATO was actually codified.

    His dad signed up to be a Brownshirt, and post-war was a tyrannical and abusive alcoholic at home. My one grandfather was the same way but he was Royal Air Force. Became a postal worker post WWII, never had to worry about money or being unemployed and was nothing but an alcoholic and abusive coward towards my dad. We went to his funeral but we barely gave a shit. My other grandfather was D-Day infantry at Juneau Beach and he was great.

    Apparently a deal has been worked out (ostensibly) and the tariffs are off the table now. I'm sure they're back on the menu as soon as the deal is about to inked and Trump suddenly demands more.

    I'm assuming the Secretary General of NATO just took stuff that was already agreed to in treaties, presented it as a new "deal" to Trump, and Trump swallowed it.
