It's the twitter equivalent of a micropenis sword fight. God, why can't they all just die already? Sell your Tesla stock now, folks, before Trump tanks it. Also, Musk is trying to get his way back into liberal good graces (not so much in the US, but in Europe for sure). I refuse to believe Musk torches his credit with Trump not even a week after being shown the door, over some pearl-clutching about the (admittedly atrocious) spending bill. This is PR via a flame war, so he doesn't get ousted. If Tesla shareholders get rid of Musk, the financial house of cards propping up SpaceX, Starlink and the twitter purchase could topple. The Nazi shit notwithstanding, Starlink's usage (or non-usage) in Ukraine can put him in the crosshairs of European regulators, and the cuts in that bill render SpaceX profitability impossible (especially after the PR fallout from the Katy Perry space journey). The credits that only Tesla qualified for are going, and even if they weren't, Tesla has squandered their advantage over other EV makers. Musk was the patsy for Trump's worst impulses (who else would have lent their face to DOGE and the array of illegal, unpopular and incompetent cuts?), and he spent $300m on the campaign to ensure his government contracts continued and the investigations into his companies stopped. I genuinely think Musk didn't think the fallout from this would be so extreme he could lose his companies over it, and now has to pivot to an extreme sort of damage control. Also, his fragile ego cannot abide being labelled incompetent, stupid and ineffective, especially by Trump. Also also, Musk has no way of ensuring Trump keeps promises he made in 2024 at this point, and that bill contains at least a few elements of a reneged deal. Fuck them both, I hope they die and they deserve each other in hell.
A whole lot of out of shape dudes with shaved heads and greying goatees just sighed heavily while grabbing bottles of Goo-Gone and going out to their pickup trucks.
I have a theory that the deportatjons are a grift that allow for the property owned by "illegals" to be seized. I wonder if that applies to the assets owned by the world's richest man, especially those tied to government contracts.... Cancel contracts? Nah, son...confiscate the company and deport the owner. Make steve bannon run Starlink.
All the recent drama aside, they have to, at some point. Ukraine proved that whoever controls Starlink has absolutely insane (literally military-level) power over international relations. The US cannot afford for that to remain in concentrated private hands.
For what it's worth, the whole Katy Perry debacle was done on a Blue Origin rocket, which is Bezos's space company, not Musk's. Not that it makes it any less abhorrent. Fuck all the billionaires.
I tend to cut a ton of slack for SpaceX and Starlink. Musk may be the figurehead, but there are a shit ton of smart engineers executing on stuff and knocking it out of the park.
At one time it was brilliant engineers, many who weren't Elon Musk, that really brought Tesla to life. Sure, it wasn't rocket science, but actually bringing Tesla EVs to the market may be one of the greatest leaps forward in automotive technology of our lifetime. Hating Elon Musk and hating Tesla because of Elon Musk, probably shouldn't be the same thing. If anyone that cares about the environment and thinks EVs are good for it, Tesla building a good EV with practical range lead the world's automotive manufacturers to where the EV market is today. Tesla did it, Tesla is still doing it, and likely with very little actual input from Musk himself these days. Hating Elon Musk and hating everything the man has done in his lifetime because of his recent behavior... I can respect that. I don't understand how a person can be selective with their hate.
Musk should inspire a very serious consideration of why a single person who manages to assume ownership or control over the stock of a company is allowed to dismantle the work of thousands of other people with no consequences.
Musk is much more heavily involved in the direction of Tesla. It's his mandate that drives the work. The Cybertruck, etc. He is much more hands on. I also find Tesla to no longer be the front runner EV, either. A number of friends of mine who bought one said they wouldn't buy another, for various reasons. Not that that matters. It is my impression on which companies he's actively directing and "leading" that is lending weight to my feeling. And it's also my personal take... I like/want starlink, love the science fiction aspect of spacex, and don't give a shit about tesla. Nothing logical or rational about it.
He also has a legal duty to act in the best interest of his shareholders. Supporting destructive tariffs is the opposite of that. A look back at mom and dad in happier times:
I can't believe the onion is still around with how much stupid shit is coming out daily. How can they make up stuff funnier/dumber then this?
