Well, there it is. The end of yet another year.

I hope you all have had a good one, and even if you haven't, I hope everyone's 2026 is better.

    Happy New Year, ya Idiots.

For me, it's ordering Chinese food and playing video games. Maybe watching a movie.

    Nothing NYE specific.

It's cold and snowy outside and I have zero desire to do anything with anyone, so it'll be a nice, cozy, warm, buzzed evening in where I might even make it to bed before midnight. And by "might", I mean "most definitely will".

We're going to the brewery (which, completely unrelated and only pertinent to @Nettdata , but I got everybody that works there so into DCC that they brewed a beer called Goddammit Donut) because they do a kids balloon drop early for those that don't want to stay up until midnight. Then back home at 7 to watch the OSU/Miami game. Afterwards I'll be drinking; either to celebrate or commiserate - TBD.

    lol

    That's hilarious.

I can't help but read/hear that in the voice of Jeff Hays.

If you haven't enjoyed the DCC audiobooks, I highly recommend... he really does a fantastic job of bringing those characters to life.

I have, and they're exceptional. I also really enjoyed the cameo in book 6.

We are ordering a pizza, popping a bottle of wine or two, and staying in this year. I think it’s only the second time in my adult life (first was when I was laid up with a busted leg) that I/we have no plans to see people. We’ve had a few invites to the usual shenanigans but just aren’t feeling it this year.

Tomorrow however- garage night is back.

My wife and I have started a tradition of finding a nice place with a good looking tasting menu, grab dinner, and then usually make it back to our place around 9-10 to chill for the rest of the night.

We found a nice Korean/fusion place that is apparently closing down after tonight......so that'll be an interesting experience. We also got an invite to another friend's dinner party so we're aiming to trek across town for that for more festivities.

I bought some frozen shrimp, pepperoni, cheese, etc last week hoping the kids would all be here but they’re not. It’s just the wife and I. So I did a pork loin in the crockpot and we’ll save all that other stuff for another time.

I am on the third of three remaining pumpkin ales I was saving for tonight though. The scales said this morning I’m already back to pre-Christmas weight ( 35# down from August ) so fuck it.

I guess I’m still adjusting to our sons being grown and having lives of their own.

We ain't doing a Got Damn thing this year. I'm pissy because EOY at work is like EOM on steriods, (doubly so because today went completely sideways), living in a house under construction for 6 months is really getting to The Wifey and tired of the shitty weather. We going to cook some food, pop a bottle of bubbly and not get laid due to Aunt Flo joining us.

*Raises beer* Here's to trying to make it to NYC's NYE becuase there's damn near no chance of making it to midnight here. Happy New Years, idiots.
