Those people are liars, suicidal or idiots.

This hobby is by far the most risky thing I do, I'd have a longer life span if I spent the same amount of time smoking meth out of an exhaust pipe. The idea of doubling down on that risk because of a ticket is fucking stupid.

Besides, how often do you see a bike pulled over anyway?

I did my metal tank and plastic fenders on my shadow after it got blown over by the wind. It was my fault for parking where I did, a little incline with my kickstand higher than my tires, didn't take much breeze.

I had to partially redo the tank twice, take a coat off and reapply. Once because I didn't get the filler sanded smooth enough and you could see the sanding marks after the primer coat. Second time because it got runs. You're real shine comes from the clear coat. I made the mistake of trying get more shine with more paint, and that's just not how it works.

I'm no pro, but the finished product looked like I was. Really check the entire surface between each coat of primer, paint or clear. It's easier to fix than if you spray over a fuck up a second time.

Make sure you build a makeshift paint booth with some way of pulling dust out of it. Something like a cheap camping tent, tape plastic over any screens or vents, cut a hole for intake and outlet and setup the fan and hvac filter to do their job.

I'm also assuming you have a good compressor and decent enough spray gun? If so, just head to your local auto paint supply store and they'll set you up with everything you need. Primers, reducers, hardeners, toners, clears etc.

Hard to really give advise as there are so many different types of paint. Are you spraying a water base, solvent or single stage?

Old friend of mine had a classic Porsche 914 that needed a paint job, but it was just a "beater" track day car, so he decided to do it himself.

He tried 3 times, and all three times it came out in really, really bad orange peel. And it was painted orange.

He ended up just leaving it, and it was hilarious.

I have been pulled over before. He told me i won the high score for today, and since i stopped he was going to give me a ticket for a lower speed and not take my bike. I was lucky he only caught me going 140's in a 100.

Yeah... you say that... but in reality, the dude, while being a super nice guy, might as well have painted the thing with a roller brush.

In the end, he just owned the ugliness, and it suited him and the car.

Time to upgrade from a 2014 Honda Interceptor 800. It was plenty fast, so looking at Monsters under 1200 ccs, BMW S1000r, or the like. Not feeling the Kawis or Yamahas, too much plastic.

Under $10k, newer than 2014, black in color and over 750ccs are the parameters. I prefer a naked, and might end up buying two so my girl can ride.

The wet dream bike is a 2019 MV Agusta Brutale 800, but it's a) out of my price range and b) impossible to find a mechanic around here for.

This bike might end up being an early 40th birthday present to myself, but I remain firm on $10k, because one drop or oopsie and aside from me being pizza, it's at best $4k off the value of the bike.

    Suggestions?

I absolutely love my gsx-r 750 which might have to much plastic like the kawis/yamahas. But you can get the street fighter type gsx-s which might appeal to you.

Take a look at a ZRX1200R they were made from 2000 to 2005 and are essentially a more modern take on the Universal Japanese Motorcycle of the 1970s. Or if you want something a bit more exotic get a MotoGuzzi. Neither bike is going to be the fastest thing on the road. Both will handle well enough with a comfortable seat for whomever you get to ride on the back.

There's a Triumph Speed Triple 1050r for $9800 kinda near me. 1600 miles on the bike. Looked like a steal to me.

Yeah, that's a damned good deal on the Triumph. I have thought about them, but my gf's Triumph is being a nightmare (the electronics).

I'm into the GSXSXXSXSDX's, and I'd imagine the 750 is a good comparison to my Interceptor (800). What do you love about it?

I'll take a closer look at the ZX's. I'm leery of anything too old, in part because of the ethanol changeover in 2014. That's a damned solid suggestion, though. I peeked at a Katana, and liked it, but it was over budget.

Basically a 600size with more power. Super tossable compared to a 1k. Generally speaking most people consider the gsxr750 to be the ultimate track bike for that reason.

What year is yours? I imagine it might be lacking in tech and features that the liter bikes DnD mentioned. Just a squid missile, power and handling, which I like, too. Does it have ABS and traction control?

2012, none of the new features. Definite squid missile. But fun as hell, it gets my fat ass up to 250kph decent after that, 288 is around where it tops out at.

I think Suzuki is still not putting ABS or TC on the 750. No rider assist features, just different power modes, while the 1000s get everything. Probably the fastest sreet bike you can still get that doesn't offer that rider assist stuff.

I think you are right, because the 750 hasn't gone that much up in price while the 1k's have gone up substantially since i bought mine.

I bet there’s a lot of interested buyers at that price. Think on it and make a decision quick!
