A former roommate got a new house and puppy. It's a puggle (I think) and it is a rambunctious little one.

It dragged one of my shoes into the kitchen while I was there and started going to work. The shoe is size 13, to give the little pup some scale. Too bad it wouldn't sit still in your lap for more than 30 seconds!

Sthpeedy, my Starburst Baboon tarantula. This thing is ungodly fast and is meaner than Vick's pitbulls. He builds some amazing web slings though. I'll post the rest of my zoo later... 1 Bearded Dragon, one baby Ball Python, two Emperor Scorpions and I'm keeping my girlfriend's new Hypo Leopard Gecko until he matures a little.

The friend's puggle has grown and is very fun, but dumber than a stick.

    The fuck do you want?

All these posts of adorable little puppies make me nostalgic for the days when my boys were little.

Then, I remember the pissing/crapping everywhere, needle-y little teeth and the inability to relax for five minutes without panicking about "where the dog was now?!"

And I'm happy they're grown up.

    He's awesome.

2 year old, some sort of mix with Staffordshire Terrier but he's only 60lbs. All muscle though, he over powers my friend's purebred German Sheperd

It's official: His name is Tonka. Funny, the kids like it because of it's association with the big strong metal trucks, but turns out it means "Buffalo" which is pretty appropriate for a Mastiff.

Here's our little 8 week old beast. That's my size 13 basketball shoe for perspective. He weighed 23 pounds today.

Again with the ginger spider. Speedy is pissed off and looking for food.

Snookie, my Bearded Dragon. Yeah, she's named after the Jersey Shore character because she's orange, eats a lot and makes a mess of things.

And she likes playing hide and seek.

Happy Halloween! Yes, I have become one of "those" people. And yes, I see the hatred in their eyes.

I need to teach my dog to respect women. Seriously.

He is the perfect puppy with me. Hardly need a leash and when I do put him on one he sticks right by my side. The same goes for my male friends who have taken care of him or taken him for walks/hikes. However, every single female that has taken him for a walk, or cared for him has said he's a complete beast.

I told them that they need to use a lower more aggressive voice with him if he's misbehaving and while that helps he still disregards them right away.

Any suggestions? Or is my dog doomed to be just like me?

For reading all that you're rewarded with a photo of Cobber assisting with fall cleanup.

Since I've moved away my parents treat my dog like a child. My mom just emailed me this lovely picture of Princess Bella looking very unimpressed.

The wife and I are looking into getting a dog, so I thought I'd come here for advice. We have only a few requirements:

    1) We tend to not be home a lot of the day, so the dog must be at least somewhat independent. This isn't an issue at first (I'm a student right now with a variable schedule, but I'm only gone about 4 to 6 hours a day now) but it will be once I start working.
    2) Has to be good with kids, as we plan to start a family soon.
    3) Want it to be a medium size dog. Nothing huge (i.e. not more than 40 or so lbs), but not a tiny little yappy dog, either.
    4) Prefer short hair dogs that don't shed much.

Two breeds we've looked into are Beagles and Boston Terriers, but I'm not quite sold on either. I'd love any advice.
